Once again USC is not the best team in the country
And I am not being Texas-centic as most USC supporters call everyone who does not believe USC is the best team in the country

I certainly wouldnt want to play USC in one game for all the marbles, but i dont think they would come out on top of a playoff bracket this year.

From what I've seen of USC this year, looks like their defense would allow them to compete with anyone...but I'm not sure they have enough on offense to beat the top teams. Of course, I thought that would be the case for Alabama against Florida in the SEC title game, which looks very much up for grabs at the moment.

SC underperforms against lesser opponents. Put them up against a top team and you'll see that talent excel.
GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!

All talk. Too bad they won't get a chance to prove anything.

Actually, they will...this year's Penn State team is a little better than the Ohio State team that has been invited to the past two national championship games. If USC can beat PSU convincingly in the Rose Bowl, I think they've earned a share of the mythical national championship

This year's Penn State team is what? good? are you smoking crack? USC would have to show up against Florida, Alabama, Texas, OU, or Texas Tech to prove anything. Beating Penn State means nothing and certainly doesnt make up for a loss against an unranked OSU team.

The idea that USC can beat PSU and say they deserve a share of the title is a complete joke.

these are 18-22 yr old guys we are talking about, so they will all have days/nights when they are off...but you are ignoring reality is you honestly believe USC can't play with anyone in the country. You are talking about a program that gets their choice of the top players in the largest state in the country.

#6 Utah = undefeated
#7 Texas Tech lost to # 2
#3 Texas Lost to Tech and beat #2
#2 OU lost to # 3 Tech
# 1 Alabama just lost to #4 Florida
But you're right, USC deserves to share a title without playing a single team ranked higher than they are. Great analysis.

You just keep believing that Utah is the 6th best team in the country and Tech was EVER the 3rd best team in the country.
The SEC is not as strong as it has been in the past, but Florida is as good as anyone right now. As much as you might like to see it, we are not going to see a Texas vs OU national championship.
I'm hardly one to defend USC and the PAC-10, as I think that conference is also down from what it has been...but if you have watched USC and don't think they have the athletes to compete with anyone in the country...well, you just keep believing they are the same caliber as Utah.

Penn St couldn't stay on the field with a single Top 5 team this year. Can't understand how you can watch these games and compare the athletic talent as even close. They would have the best shot at Alabama because they are not as strong as Florida, UT, OU, USC on Offense. Everybody knows that USC has perhaps the No. 1 team in the country based on athletes but they have zero shot at a National Championship. NONE ZERO.

i personally would love to see a playoff with
USC
UT
OU
TT
UF
Alabama
you can throw in ohio state and penn state to make it 8 teams... and i do think that ohio state is a better team with pryor at QB, but lets be honest its big 10 football

We all understand that USC has no chance of playing Florida for the championship...even if OU loses to Missou and allows Texas that opportunity...all I'm saying is that the winner of the Rose Bowl game (their fans) will have every right to stake a claim (in their minds) to a share of the national championship.
Again...this current BCS system is so contriversial it really makes for great debate...and that's why I don't see a playoff on the horizon anytime soon.
