I keep thinking he sounds extremely impressive. I sure hope we're in the running for this guy.

Did yall see his picture in the paper Tuesday? He looks pretty strong for a safety, and he's described as a real hard hitter. And, it says he's a champion 400 guy in track - so let's sign the man.

A big kid who can really run should find a place on any team. I'd love to see us get him to The Hilltop.

I've seen reports that he maybe a little slow to play in the Defensive Backfield at about 4.58 according to the Insiders and 4.55 according to Rivals but heck he would be an outstanding prospect as LB with that size and speed-somebody is going to find a place for a guy with his speed and size. The fact that he runs the 400 rather than the 200 or 100 meters is an indication that he probably ain't a sprinter.

Maybe not a pure sprinter, like a KG or a Trey Griffin, but if he runs the 400 at a school as big as Mesquite, he can move pretty well. And while we'd like to see sprinters at every position, it's not like every safety we have runs the 4.55/4.58 you mention there. Maybe Rico Harris can, and I'm pretty sure Jamey Harper can. Alvin Nnabuife? Don't know. Chris Godfrey? Don't know. Joey Sturdivant is listed on the Recruiting Roundup at 4.45 - is that accurate, or inflated by his HS coach? Don't know.

And it's not like all the great safeties have been fliers. Ronnie Lott had lost a step when he moved from CB to safety. Donnie Shell. Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters couldn't run a 4.5 at any point in their lives. If this kid's 4.55 is a legit time, I'd offer him in a second.

A guy with Duncan's speed and size has to be able to play somewhere on the field.

Any word on an updated list for him?

He's still listing SMU on Rivals.. and Rivals has him at 2 stars and a 5.4 rating before the year starts. Not bad. He has potential be a great small LB if he can add the size.

your right our safeties might not run a 4.58-that's probably why you saw a lot of opponents waiving goodbye to them on the way to the endzone. Especially at FS I'm looking for a guy that can run down somebody from behind.

He just sounds like he's too good an athlete to pass up.

Maybe he could bulk up and replace Brian Bischoff, D.D. Johnson and Jarrian James as an outside linebacker in a year or two? Sounds ideal.

The kid sound good. Also, Stallion or anyone, what about William Shaffer out of Brownwood? Supposedly SMU had interest. True? I've been told he's got good size and speed.

He has decent size and speed (5-10, 190, 4.55), but neither is exceptional. Yes, I hear SMU is interested, but he's not dazzling enough to earn an early offer, at least according to the rumor mill. Last I saw, he was listing SMU, Rice, SWTexas State, TCU and Texas Tech.

Agreed, Stallion. I want two or three guys that can run down a guy from behind. Aren't safeties supposed to be QUICK for just that reason? All I saw from our safeties last year was a lot of running, panting, and not enough tackling.

is Duncan still interested in SMU? I'm all for bringing in more local kids and given our situation in the secondary and at LB, it appears he might fit in well.

I haven't heard or read a word about Duncan in ages. I sure hope we're still in the hunt.
