you can throw in ohio state and penn state to make it 8 teams... and i do think that ohio state is a better team with pryor at QB, but lets be honest its big 10 football

If it ever does come to a playoff, I'd like to see the playoffs patterned (somewhat) after basketball's "March Madness" in that like to see the "little guys" represented. In a year like this, I'd hate to see unbeaten conference champs like Utah & Boise excluded. I'm perfectly OK with not wasting time inviting CUSA, MAC & SunBelt champs...or even the ACC and Big East Champs...but I'd have a hard time excluding Penn State. I'd favor a 4 round toruney with either 12 teams (1st round byes) or 16 like the rest of the NCAA divisions manages to accomplish.

Why wouldnt you include those conferences? Not doing so is exactly why the BCS lives. You would KILL the excitement of the season if you didnt and still had 12 teams.
Now, just as an example, take 12 (??) conf champions and then 4 at large in a 16 team bracket. That means there is only one way to avoid elimination if you lose your conference: schedule BIG-time non conference opponents and prove yourself on the field. Losing those games wouldn't keep you out either...assuming you win your conference. Not to mention it is kind of a joke that 85% of D1 college football players show up at camp with ZERO chance at the title!!

Everyone remembers USC's loss in Corvallis, but Florida lost the same week at the Swamp to Ole Miss.
GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!

No Question Except they then went on to compete against top tier teams, including a win over #1 Alabama!

That was the same weekend that Bama went on the road to Georgia and beat the pre-season #1 and then unbeaten Georgia Bulldogs. Florida killed Georgia's season by handling them their 2nd loss a few weeks later.

Ole Miss is a way better team than Oregon State.
Not even worth discussing really. From the conferences they each play in to the depth of their roster etc.

USC's offense is "offensive" to me!
I am personally glad to be saying "don't let the door hit you in the [deleted]" to Steve Sarkisian as he departs.
USC does not belong in the NC game!
The USC Defense is very good but it remains to be (not this year) seen how they would match up with Oklahoma, Florida, or Texas.
The USC offense is neither creative or as good as the players they recruit.
Thanks a lot Sarkisian!
All the USC blow ups of the past few years occurred after Norm Chow was ungraciously shown the door by PC, which many of us think was Pete's ego causing his brain to expel noxious gases!
As bad as the BCS has been at least OU v. UF should be an entertaining shoot out, if nothing else.
Oregon State was USC's spoiler twice!
The USC defeat to OSU left out any chance for a spot in the NC; the OSU defeat by Oregon left out any chance of USC v. UT.
So we get another ho-hum Pac 10-Big1011 blowout in the Rose Bowl.
Hopefully we'll at least get Alabama-UT.
So I admit after all my rants, USC doesn't belong this year!
With the Rickster, Chow, and Walker across town, the Trojans had better get rid of their sense of entitlement!

#6 Utah = undefeated #7 Texas Tech lost to # 2 #3 Texas Lost to Tech and beat #2 #2 OU lost to # 3 Tech # 1 Alabama just lost to #4 Florida But you're right, USC deserves to share a title without playing a single team ranked higher than they are. Great analysis.
You forgot to add Florida in there. Didn't they lose to Ole Miss at home?!?!
Isn't Oregon State ranked higher than Ole Miss?
I don't blame you for not adding that information. That will blow your whole case.
Oh and FYI--Ohio State WAS ranked higher than USC when they met. But we won't add that info in either.

Hey, DT. Why do you think I didnt talk about florida? Oh, yeah...because they are playing for the title. And I have pointed out that they earned redemption (in the voters/poll) eyes by playing well in the SEC, which is a little tougher than the PAC 10. Knocking off undefeated Alabama trumped even Texas, who most argue got screwed. The point I was making is that USC lost to an unranked team and has NO case to say they deserve to be there given who else is being left out.
Now I am wondering....WAS ohio state ranked higher than USC when they met? On September 7th, USC was ranked #1 in both the AP and USA Today polls. USC met #5 (BOTH polls) on September 13th. On September 14th, USC remained #1, while Ohio State fell to #13 and #14 in the two polls. So if USC was number ONE, could ohio state have been ranked higher? Yeah probably not. Sounds like you went to Oklahoma...?
As for "blowing my case," thanks for the terrible analysis. If you want to defend USC or see them win the title, why dont you do something about their schedule or tell them not to lose? The only shot they had, as i have said before, was to lose the pac 10 and take on Texas in the Fiesta Bowl.
Now if we could just get the BCS to pick REAL matchups instead of making sure no one plays a good game...

Texas is the team that should be playing for the national championship IMO.

Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy will stay for his senior season.
McCoy told the American-Statesman of his decision Monday.
