If you're referring to my post...no, that is exactly what he told me.

Yes, the idea is kind of unsettling.

Yeah!!! Another freshman QB with no experience thrown to the wolves!!!

I'm pretty sure that post had more than a little sarcasm going on

Yes...or maybe no...

according to maxpreps, Padron only played in 5 games this season. And he only saw limited action in like two games last year. Man with that little experience it is kind of scary that Jones would say he has a shot of coming in and playing next year!! he has passed for 1800 yards in his whole high school career. I just dont see him coming in as a true freshman and being ready to take on a very complicated offense.

Also I watched BLM's high school highlight tape on youtube again and I have to say that he seemed to hit the deep balls so much better, and seemed so much more agile in the pocket than i thought he did this year! I know it was high school, but still. Watch it and you will see what I mean.

Relax, JJ isn't an idiot. It's not even Spring practice yet - pace yourself on your overreactions.

Play-action was BLM's best friend in high school. He had a back or two that kept opposing LBs up in the box. Plus, he threw half the number of times in high school that he did this season at SMU. The deep ball begins to shallow up and wobble when one's arm is tired. He'll get more used to it and be able to strike deeper better as he matures.

Surely Jones meant that Padron's going to be the one qb he gives a scholarship to this year, not that Padron's going to be his starter after seeing him in few series of work in practice...

Padron is a good-looking quarterback prospect with the underneath throwing skills and overall athleticism that project well in the spread. Has very good size with his height and well-built body that still has room for much physical development. Smooth, balanced drop. Sets up quickly in the pocket with good balance. Lacks a quick release but has a smooth over-the-top delivery and the ball comes out of his hands with more than adequate RPMs. Goes through his progressions and sees the whole field well; does not force many throws. Displays good underneath accuracy and zip on his passes. Throws a tight ball and fits into smaller windows of underneath coverage. Aside from getting rid of the ball quicker our main concern is his lack of downfield arm strength. Could struggle to make all the college throws. Accuracy diminishes outside of the short-to-intermediate zones. Shows good athleticism and can buy extra time with his feet in the pocket but does not project high as a true-zone read or dual-threat quarterback. That said, Padron shows the physical tools as a both a runner and a passer to be productive in an open offense at the mid-major level where he can dink and dunk and occasionally take what the defense gives on the ground. Smart kid who appears to take good command of the huddle

From ESPN, they have him ranked the number 89 QB
