Christian Morris-6-9/280 PF from RutgersDecided to transfer after 8 games and is visiting TCU today and will visit SMU before deciding where to go.
SMU could have an advantage because he went to South Kent Prep School where Papa Dia and Mike Walker are from. 3 Star 5.7 according to Rivals out of high school with offers from Virginia, St. Johns, Memphis and Miami as well as Rutgers out of high school.
STRENGTHS OF CHRISTIAN MORRIS' INDIVIDUAL GAME: There are many aspects of Christian Morris' game to like. First, his improvement in his overall game. Christian had a solid summer and many top schools tried to get involved. Morris showed his loyalty by committing to Rutgers since the coaching staff had been involved for a while.
Second, Morris has the power and strength to make an immediate impact in such a physical league like the Big East. However, his footwork and hands are nimble enough to be a player to help on both ends of the court. It's rare to find big men like Morris, who can hammer you around the rim. Fred Hill and his coaching staff did an exceptional job in sealing this commitment up before it got out of hand. CONCLUSION: Morris will be an inside force for Rutgers. He's a player who will give you an impact around the rim.
How does this work? If he transfers at mid-year, does this year count as the sit out year and he would be eligible for the 2009-10 season?
Just send 'da money.
Just like Faye, he would become eligible after two semestersr (provided he gets the grades), I believe.
If he is transfering because the Venezuelan kid is getting his minutes, he should certainly like his chances of working into our rotation. Hopefully Doherty's NY connection will help if we are competing with TCU

During his senior year Papa sprained his knee and sat out about 5 games. Morris started in his place, and kept the starting job after Papa came back. Morris clearly outplayed him. Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
Sign him up. In lieu of a seven-footer with an offensive game next year, this kind of widebody is vital.
I've seen Morris a few times, and he's a huge kid. He had no chance of playing over Greg Echenique. Just a completely different level prospect. That said, Echenique was originally an 09 guy, but finished up early, got qualified and started college ball in 08, so there was no separation. This is the type of kid Doh needs to close on. He could help “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
