I have no idea what Doherty is doing with his substitutions……but I like the idea of having 8 in a regular rotation
in the post game show he said something about being able to experiment.
Guessing he will narrow down come conf play

What an Fing surprise, guys. They're not very good. What the hell were you expecting?
Did you really say that McCoy and Williams aren't very good?
You really are an idiot...

In non-conference games with a team full of underclassmen against a solid opponent, free substitutions gives you a feel of how different player combinations work in a game atmosphere. So, I don't fault Doh for doing that in this game, especially after the limp wristed performance last game. As far as rebounding is concerned. I'm sorry it is about desire and boxing out. Athleticism can overcome deficiencies, but without the fundamentals, you usually get outrebounded. Exhibit A will always be Wes Unseld, a 6'7" center in the NBA who played regularly against Willis Reed, Wilt Chamberlin, Kevin McHale, Kareem Jabbar and kept them off the boards. The guy was not athletic, but knew how to block out (he got many rebounds on the first bounce). Doh ought to put a call into Wes to give these guys a clinic on boxing out. And this comes from a guy who played small forward at 5'10" in high school and got more than my share of rebounds.

My friend, check the history of what I have said about our guards. And then you will learn. I could see where you would think that based on what I copied on. But that wasn't it. But again, check the history of what I have said about McCoy and Williams.
Thanks in advance.
But I will say that if we don't get them any help, they're going to be worn out by February.

Anyone catch the announcers make a big deal about how great A&Ms freshman player looked?
How about making a big deal that most of our players were freshmen against juniors and seniors on the road.

I watched the game on TV & then watched it again later & I have to admit that I thought the announcing team of Coach Haller & Lucas were very complimentary of us. I got the impression that they were surprised of the talent level & couldn't understand how we lost to APB. They also commented how the future looked very bright for the Ponies.

Agree -- they along with A&M coach seemed surprised, and I would venture to say the coach was also a little worried.

Agree with those comments, East...and that is coming from a guy who was a 5'-11" (6 ft in the program) 2 guard who was asked to play the 3 against guys 6'-2''-6'-4" most nights. I, too got my share of boards...and an occasional foul for sticking a rear end into some of the bigger guys so they couldn't come over the top of me. It will be interesting to see who steps up as this season progresses. Looks like everyone is being given the opportunity to shine.

Charleston, I think I was 6'0" in the program as well. Funny how we all grew a couple of inches. Unfortunately, I was up against guys in the 6'3" to 6'5" range and had more than my share of black eyes where I caught an elbow in the face.

I'm not worried about tired guards in February. Most teams in the NCAA and NBA have players play almost the entire game every night. Killen almost played every minute last year. He didn't slow down. Allen Iverson is usually top 5 in minutes every year and he plays 82 games. We need help at the guard positions, I agree, but our style and deep bench should keep them some what fresh. Walker, Haynes, Harp, and sometimes Malone carry minutes at those positions.
Oh, and thanks in advance (whatever).
