Jerry Levias - article
Great article in today's Houston Chronicle about Jerry. What he went through being the first black player in the SWC and what he's doing now. A great read about a great man.
Title:
Making a difference
He suffered in silence while helping to integrate the SWC as a star receiver at SMU. Now, Jerry LeVias’ commitment to Boys & Girls Harbor gives him the same kind of satisfaction he experienced on the field

I was a SMU freshman in '68 and saw that run back against TCU. I had no idea of the racial injustice Jerry went through. He was the most exciting college player I have ever seen. Now that his story is being told, so many years later, it makes me admire him even more. I did see him at homecoming this year at Pigskin review. He looked great. Like he could run back a touchdown today. He got a standing ovation when introduced at the concert. Jerry, you deserve all our admiration and you were the Jackie Robinson of the SWC.
