Recruiting Mama is the Key-and this Mama in particular seems to need a whole lot more recruiting than your average Mama. Something might be a tad wrong with this system when a recruit's Mom is turned off by a university because she don't get her daily e-mail from Coach. I don't know why the NCAA keeps allowing this daily e-mail barrage-its not necessary or even rationally related to making the best decision for a recruit.
I still remember Coach Cavan saying he mailed out scholarship offers to a handful of elite recruits without even calling them or writing them letters or inviting them to a camp or to a game, saying he just had to mail out offers to keep fans happy by saying we offered. Nice.
I would be afraid, very afraid, if I were a coach at some small mid-western college with a politically incorrect mascot. Retribution will be swift for any alleged Univ. Texas recruiting improprieties !
And then one of his assistants allegedly goes and gets some kid to take a recruit's SAT/ACT in place of the recruit. Wonder if Cavan knew it or not. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
