12 team playoff. Keep other bowls in place. Top 4 seeds get a bye. Seeds 5-8 host first round. Seeds 1-4 host second round. Semis and finals held at BCS bowl sites. Top seeds are rewarded for regular season which makes late-season games meaningful for top teams.

You could still easily have the other bowls in place.

This is absurd. Have you seen the stats on ticket sales for the Fiesta Bowl? Word is that Texas sold all but 2,000 of their 17.5k allotment to the "donors" while OSU sold only about 3,000 of theirs. Both schools turned to public sales of their seats.

I can tell you that many Texas donors have put their "premium" seats back to the school since the seats are generally terrible, location-wise.

If they want to keep the bowl system, first they need to line up games that people want to see. Does anyone expect Texas v Ohio State, USC v Penn State, or Alabama v Utah to be close games??? maybe the Rose bowl will be okay, but few really believe either big 10 team or Utah really stand a chance. Although, I will be the first to say that anything can happen when you get 6 weeks to gameplan one team.

As for the others, who cares? Central Mich vs Fl Atl? Give me a break - total waste of time.

If SMU gets into the tittily-winks panzy-ass bowl, I'm there with my friends and family. I don't care if the rest of the football world thinks SMU looks like Central Michigan or Florida Atlantic. I am tickled to death that "donors" are sending back their seats with Texas. Snobby bastards that they are, at least somebody will enjoy the game...maybe folks that don't usually get to see one live. And I don't give a runnin' rat's [deleted] if the stadium is packed or not. It's easier to move around with a little give in the capacity. Shorter lines to the bathroom.

If they want bowls, you are right...they need to put butts in seats, and the matchup certainly matters. However, there are other ways to encourage butts in seats. Price, targeted marketing, gameday activities and atmosphere work well, as least from my observation Sunday evening at the Independence Bowl. Took a buddy and our boys. Really enjoyed it. It was his son's first bowl game...first college game in a big stadium...at 9 years old. And his eyes were every bit as big as my son's when he attended his first college football game 4 years ago when he was 7...USC vs. Wash State in the Coliseum...or his second...USC vs. UCLA in the Rose Bowl.

For those guys, it isn't how "big" it is. It's the fact that they get to go at all. There is something "pure" about that. And I wouldn't trade it for 50 BCS bowl games or a playoff. The national champion whiners and the media can kiss my [deleted].

Ignoring your NC whining nonsense and commenting on just the bowl game sitch.

I would like to see them stop moving all of these games into super huge stadiums, like JERRY (THE JOKE) WORLD. I dont think that stadium will be sold out for anything anytime soon, and I would enjoy the atmosphere at a bowl game in a sold out Ford Stadium much more than I would there.
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!
