' I would have bet your mortgage that we wouldn't win by 30. Feels good. Can't say enough about McCoy. Best frosh since Sas, apologies to Bhop. The 4 kids that must get minutes, regardless of slumps or occasional laziness, are McCoy/Williams/Dia/Faye. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Hey, look at that - getting closer to conference play, and the bench starts to shorten. Played a lot of people, but look at the minutes - Williams, Faye, McCoy at 30 or more. Fall, Dia, Otis in a rotation. Naykundi and Harp fill in at the 2/3 spots. Walker sees time if McCoy is gassed or in fould trouble, Haynes and Malone provide additional depth.
Locked in starting 4 is Williams, McCoy, Faye, Fall. Dia and Otis will switch out from starter to 6th man. Nyakundi is your 7, Walker 8, and Haynes will pass Harp as the season goes on for the 9th spot off the bench. Malone looks to be the odd man out for now. Haynes, Malone, Harp, Walker won't get double digit minutes from here on out unless there is foul trouble or injury. Doh isn't an idiot, the lineup is now taking shape and you will se more reasonable rotations from here on out.
I hope I'm wrong about this stuff. Do any you think my postings have been for my advocating failure? And I've been unmercifully [deleted] the program. I had every right to be based on the clown performance in Fort Worth and the inexcusable losses to UTSA and UAPB.
But let's just hold tight. If they beat Colorado and UTEP, then we may have something. That said, I'm glad for them that they won. As I've said, McCoy is a great player but he will be gassed by February if there isn't help provided.
I think he changed it b/c we were [deleted] on ponyfans. Seriously, he was tinkering with the lineup way too much at the expense of stupid loses.
McCoy was fun to watch today. They aren't a very good team despite beating a bad Georgia team but I'm pleased with the effort after some awful, awful L's lately.
And I want to stress that I think everyone should be extremely [deleted] the program after what they have put us through for the past 20 seasons. I just think that Doh has us going in the right direction as far as actually getting players is concerned for once, and we should give hiim a shot for at least the rest of this year....
I think Malone might edge out Haynes for that 9th spot - he brings more tools then Haynes and way more then Harp.
Clearly Doh has examined all our opinions on PF - and has selected his main starters for the year based on our keen observations.
