11/5 Three Bulldogs earn superlatives (w/All-District Team)

Three Navarro College football players were named to the 2003 All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference Team announced on Monday.

Gary Elliott was named all-conference as a kick returner, Kyle Williams earned honors at quarterback and kick holder Adam Bender received all-conference plaudits as a special teams player.

Elliott was among the conference leaders in kickoff returns (25.8 average) and punt returns (10.6 average) while also hauling in a team-high 30 catches as a receiver.

Williams, a sophomore from Pine Bluff, Ark., had 49 tackles and one interception as the lone veteran in the Bulldog secondary. Williams also broke up a team-high six passes.

Bender saw limited time as a safety, registering 19 tackles, but it was his play as a holder on kicks that drew praise from the league coaches. The highlight was Bender's acrobatic hold of an errant snap against Cisco.

Honorable mention All-Conference selections from Navarro were receiver Chris Simpson, offensive tackles Adam Durham and Devo Jackson, defensive end Greg Melton, tight end Sampson Douglas, punter Bryan Hepler, linebacker Albert Sells, cornerback Stephen McCoy and kicker Stan Jones.

Great two way player? Throws too many INT's that require him to tackle? Or a cornerback?

that's easy TB Charles Elix, QB Dane King, WR Rashard Turner and CB Quincey Butler. BTW Elix and Turner showed some interest in SMU last year but are Freshmen. I'm sure there are some others but those guys jump out at me. Turner who plays with King in particular had an incredible year.

you think we are full up and I don't think we have a single quality, big-time WR on the team. I'm pretty sure I'm right. Rashard Turner will be one of the more highly recruited players in the country next year-Book it.

I didn't even know we had receivers on this team.

Besides, we could have Larry Fitzgerald, Rashuan Woods, and Roy Williams on this team and we couldn't get them the ball.

Plus, they'd be way, way, way too tall to play receiver at SMU.
