I guess it's how you define success. I see us improving -- yes, go ahead and make the joke that that's not hard to do -- here on out as long as JJ can sustain the recruiting success. He's never not turned a team around. We are no shining exception.

We can have the old optimist vs. realist debate if you want to, but we both know where it'll end up. I define success as the exact opposite of SMU football over the last 20 years and am pretty sick and damn tired of it and do not relish a few more years of rebuilding.

And let us not forget that Jones had a little more initial success in his last program turnaround.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

And he had several NFL quality guys to work with that year at Hawii. He did not inherit that here in case you didn't hear.

Well it's really a way of saying that you can't expect to win until you have several solid classes under your belt.

I think we're saying the same thing. Unfortunately.

Jones inherited a 1-11 team and took them to another 1-11 playing a whole bunch of 1st year guys. I've been optimistic that each new coach will finally be the one to turn this program around and judging from some of the guys who are now showing interest in SMU, I believe more than ever that Jones will finally be the guy who actually gets it done...but I've been wrong before. Right now...I'm just hoping for year over year improvement the next 4 years. Will wait to see how next year plays out before making any projections as to when this program might post a winning season...much less play in a bowl game.

Keep the faith men. JJ is bringing in BIG MEN to play for SMU. When the little guys see the protection they will come to SMU too.

That's just the way it happens.
