Texas Prep X-tra's highlight game last nite was Pt Arthur Memorial(a 2 year old conglomeration of 3 old Pt Arthur schools) and Houston Eisenhower(Ike). They interviewed the long time sports writer for the Pt Arthur paper who said that Ike took a 35-7 lead into halftime. He then said that he witnessed what he thought was the greatest single game individual performance by a high school player that he had ever seen as Pt Arthur Memorial scored on all 5 possessions in the 2nd half behind junior RB named Jamal CHARLES who ran for something like 287 yards on 31 carries to pull out a huge comeback victory. Gotta be Shanderrick's brother-don't it?

I would guess so. Sure would be nice to grab another Pony out of that gene pool, huh?

Yes, he is a student assistant with the football team, last time I heard.

oh my! according to a national track site Jamal Charles ran the 34th best 100 M time in the country last year with a 10.69 as a SOPHOMORE.

Because Memorial's 41-40 comeback victory over Aldine Friday night ranks as what ESPN would call an "instant classic," a second airing of the Port Arthur News Friday Night Experience telecast has been scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Cable 7. If you know a Titan player, make a tape of the telecast and give it to him. It would be an invaluable keepsake of one of the most remarkable victories in the history of Texas schoolboy playoffs. Hats off to Dean Colbert, Jamaal Charles and a team that refused to lose. You have to think winning the way Memorial did could be the start of something big. What was truly amazing was that Memorial came all the way back from a 34-7 halftime deficit without the help of a single cheap touchdown set up by a turnover . . . While Memorial was authoring a victory that should gain statewide attention, the trio of Port Neches-Groves, Central and Nederland did a pretty convincing job of upholding 20-4A's reputation as perhaps the state's deepest 4A district in terms of quality teams. None of the three victories were by less than 17 points, and the average margin was 24.3. Good thing the fourth and fifth place teams in 19-4A didn't have to face Ozen and West Orange-Stark . . . Nederland's victory, by the way, marked the eighth consecutive year the Bulldogs have won their bidistrict game. Only three other 4A schools -- Calallen, LaMarque and Aledo -- can make the same claim. Calallen and LaMarque have made it past the bidistrict round 13 consecutive seasons.

I got a confirmation from some Pt Arthur Memorial fans on the Rivals HS Board that Jamaal Charles is Shanderrick's brother-they said he had about 1700+ yards rushing as a junior and about 4-5 200 yard rushing game. Unfortunately, they lost last nite and are out of the playoffs.

how nice would it be to have Jamaal join the same class as Chris Hall? Gotta start building depth behind Richuel.

ShanD is not a coach at SMU. He said he would, but has showed up to under 5 practices this year.

Not to make light of an injury, but does that mean another scholarship is free? Or was it already accounted for?
