Third JC QB Prospectremember a couple of weeks ago when I guessed that the rumored Kansas JC QB that SMU was pursuing was Chad Wilmott from Butler County JC the No. 1 ranked JC in the Country. Rivals confirmed SMU's interest last nite although they state SMU hasn't called in a couple of weeks. He stated that SMU was pursuing him hard before that which coincides when the rumors came out. He was offered early by UAB and Illinois is looking at him. 3 star rating. His size height and speed are 6-4, 210 4.6 and seem too good to be true-which probably means they are or he would be recruited by everybody. But he was the Jayhawk JC Conference Offensive Player of the Year with over 2,000 passing yards this year and he is leading Butler County JC to the JC National Championship game scheduled for December 6.

Re: Third JC QB ProspectSo Guru, Stallion, etc. - would you agree that this is the best of the three? Sounds impressive, based on raw numbers, at least.
Re: Third JC QB Prospectwell all these guys are well respected prospects and all have National and Conference All Star credentials if that makes you feel more comfortable-it looks like we are in on some guys that can help us. The coaches are in a better position to evaluate which player has the talent that will be most effective at the next level. If King got offers from Passing schools like Hawaii, Kansas, Louisiana Tech and even Baylor as well as SMU -I wouldn't be surprised if he has a pretty good arm. But he hasn't scheduled a visit to SMU and its getting late since his calandar is booked before the JC signing date.

Re: Third JC QB ProspectCan I assume that King and Algood are 3 Star recruits according to Rivals as well?
Did I read Algood's stats right? Is he under a 50% completion rating for the year? At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Third JC QB ProspectDo JUCO's enroll for the spring semester and get to work out during the spring? We need all the QB help we can get.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Third JC QB Prospectdepending on their academic performance and I think whether they were full-qualifiers out of high school they can enroll at mid-term. Never been sure where the SMU rule started and the NCAA rule stopped on mid term admission of JC recruits. Also, King and Willmont have been rated 3 stars by either Rivals and Insiders respectively but I'm not sure Allgood is ranked (except by Max Emfinger) yet since he was just added to the Rivals Database.

Re: Third JC QB ProspectThese questions apply to all the JUCO quarterbacks currently under discussion who might attend SMU.
Can a player redshirt at a junior college? If so, did any of these QBs? That is, have any of them completed three years of college now, or are they at the end of sophomore year? Of the JUCOs, did any/all start for two years? If not, how much more game experience will any of them have than Phillips? How much of their success can be attributed to their receivers?
Re: Third JC QB Prospectall three kids started for the majority of their freshman year and all of their sophmore year. I believe JUCOs are under the same redshirt rules as other players meaning they can redshirt either in JUCO or in College but 1 year only.

Re: Third JC QB ProspectSuch a good question. If it is the receivers, I hope he can bring the receivers with him; we don't exactly have a plethora of receivers out on the field right now. Re: Third JC QB ProspectRumor has it that Dane King and Bobby Chase were working on some really good chemistry/timing before Chase sprained his ankle and missed a few games. Maybe they can re-kindle that at SMU?
Re: Third JC QB ProspectJason Swanson from City College od San Francisco is a guy SMU is recruiting
Re: Third JC QB ProspectSo that is four QB's that we are interested in):
Dane King (known offers from Kansas, SMU, Bayor and La-La) Jason Swanson (official visit scheduled to Kansas, interest by SMU) Chad Wilmott Justin Allgood At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Re: Third JC QB Prospectthere's story on that Swanson kid today on the Insiders-they say he is a Seneca Wallace starter kit and rates a 3 star 6-0 runs a 4.5 and threw for something like 2500 yards. I told you these coaches have unparalleled contacts in the JC ranks. My fear is that the administration has essential given him a green light to recruit only JC QBs when there are plenty of other positions where we have immediate needs.

Re: Third JC QB ProspectI am both encouraged and discouraged that these names are just popping up now. I assume we didn't start recruiting them yesterday. Is it possible we are recruiting other players under the radar as well?
