Mustain will have to battle Aaron Corp for the starting job.
I think he's making a mistake by coming out, but $$ talks.

knowning USC they'll rebound just fine. They reload, and I've read their D already has plenty of guys who have some game experience returning. Factor in that with some good skill players on offense, good coaching, and the Pac 10, then they will be plain old USC again.

Carroll believes he's making a mistake too, he talked about how he needed another year. ESPN also says during the interview Carroll and Sanchez were pretty frosty with each other.

Carroll was a pretty big d-head in the press conference. It's one thing if he thinks Sanchez is making a bad move leaving too early, but it's another to publicly say that your player is making a mistake. what a jerk.

In the news today, Obama called for a redistribution of stars. SMU should benefit greatly from this.

Bill Plaschke chewed Carroll's cry-baby act in today's LA Times... http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-pla ... 327.columnWith tears in his eyes, a USC student announced that after attending classes for four years and receiving his bachelor's degree, he was leaving campus to pursue his life's work.
At which point, his beloved professor publicly scorned him for it.
What's wrong with this picture?
Nothing, apparently, if you are Pete Carroll.
Everything, perhaps, if you are Mark Sanchez.
The gap between college football and college education was never more sadly pronounced than Thursday, when a future graduate happily sent out early commencement announcements, only to see a professed educator shred them in disappointment.
Sanchez, the Trojans' starting quarterback who will finish his classwork in May with one year of remaining football eligibility, formally declared that he was leaving school to join the NFL.
Carroll, his coach, publicly treated him like a traitor.
Said Sanchez: "It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to this university."
Said Carroll: "We didn't see this decision the same."
Next season will be interesting as Carroll not only has to reload his coaching staff, but his QB, and defense as well.
I'm curious to see if Pete is truly the genius the press portrays, or just surrounded by the right people at the right time.

Obviously Mark should do whatever is best for his family. I think Pete had his best interests in mind, especially seeing how recent USC QBs have performed at the professional level (save Matt Cassell ). Mark didn't have a lot of great games in his one starting season so I'm not sure how the NFL will view his resume. Pete just could have acted with a little more class and kept his personal feelings to himself.
