Bo Levi is going to be a very good player before he's done at SMU.
Back off Warchild seriously.

It is nice to see SMU in contention for the area's top players but why in the world does a kid have a televised press conference to tell the local school no. I question that and think it is a classless move on his part and his family's part. I do not fault him for chosing Missouri but I question how he did it.

The average person watching sports in Dallas doesn't really consider us the 'local' school. Probably more people going "what school's hat is that with the ford mustang logo? SMU? Where is that?" than anything else.

I understand that beggars can't be choosers, but I am not sure that I would like to welcome a kid here who basically gave us a very public finger. I know the Wdnwha Committee has indicated a willingness to forgive and forget, and while we did want him, I am not sure I would feel that same bit of charity should he start riding pine at Mizzou and decide he wants to come home. If he's as good as advertized, he'll get playing time at Mizzou and with their offense, get to strut his stuff. If not, he's going to wish that he had had the chance to pick on CUSA defenders for four years instead of Big XII.

The cheese factor is way up there for the way this entire thing was handled. Somehow, I think the football gods will get some payback for the way this kid went about this - and my feelings would be the same if he had put on the pony hat.........

Until he held up the Missouri hat, I couldn't understand anything he was saying. These things are such a joke.

Not saying SMU was necessarily a better pick for him than Mizzou, but they are losing Chase Daniel and Jeremy Maclin. Hard to imagine them getting much better.

didn't Missouri sign one of the Best QBs in the country last year-he's waiting in the wings. I really was having a hard time figuring out why Lawrence was so interested in SMU given the role the RB plays in our offense. It was a big longshot. If SMU wants to get more frontline RBs they are going to have to feature the running game more. On the other hand I don't understand why more Top QBs don't jump at the chance to play QB for Jones where they will be featured in his offense. We should have top QB prospects lining up to play at SMU.

I imagine that the coaching staff emphasized the fact that they've sent RBs to the NFL with this system, and that Lawrence would be THE MAN when it came to the position. He would start from Day 1 and it would be his job to lose. Add to it the close to home factor and there you have it.

I've had an ongoing discussion about this with a couple of posters on this board-so I looked into a comparison of SMU's running game with another prolific Passing team Texas Tech. Tech has had its best teams when they have been able to have a running game like the last two Cotton Bowl Teams. Counting only designed running plays Texas Tech runs the ball about .294% of its offensive plays while SMU ran the ball last year on only .220% of its running plays. Of course, Tech got off about a third more offensive plays than SMU. Tech's Top Rushers had 135 and 111 carries while SMU's Top Backs had 46 and 43 carries.

Now of course, Tech had better personnel to run the ball last year at RB and OLine, but I'd really like to see SMU run the ball more with McNeal and the development of an offensive line over the next few years. Right now it must have been a hard sell to a guy like Lawrence-and you know they look at these things in evaluating programs. I wouldn't be surprised if SMU ran the ball less than any team in the country last year.

I logged on around midnight last night, but is there really anything to say? We just have to move on and hope some of the remaining players choose SMU.

How in the world are all those cheering relatives/friends that were crammed in the Channel 4 studio last night going to ever see Kendial Lawrence play in person?

SMU=30 minute drive, Mizzou=9 hour drive? You can't even get a direct flight from Dallas to Columbia, Missouri. Hope it works out for him and all his local friends and relatives that would enjoy watching him play in person over the next 4 years.
