TCU Recruiting

Postby 50's PONY » Tue Jan 20, 2009 8:38 pm

I don't know how to link this but one of you might know how. Go to the TCU site on Scout. If you look down under Forums you will see a thread titled "I Am Answering All Questions About Recruiting" It is truly unbelievable. A guy named Alan Zepada is questioning TCU's recruiting. Stallion could probably explain all of this so maybe he can access the site.

Pretty funny. The biggest problem is I think this Alan Zepeda guy thinks he's Gil Brandt. (BTW in case you didn't know he's the guy who is in charge of rating all Texas players). In other words he thinks you give a rat's [deleted] about his opinion of recruits. TCU really does have a beef with Scout's outrageouly low ranking in comparison to say Houston which Scout has always rated way way too high year after year. I thought TCU got rated way too low last year too. A comparison of the offers between the two lists is huge yet last time I looked UH was rated well above TCU. I have no problem with an editor making some minor adjustment to reflect specific facts but when one RB gets 10-12 great offers and is rated below a Houston kid with zero offers it become asinine. The second problem is that Scout rarely adjusts its rankings so you get one SMU recruit who didn't even play much on his high school team with 4 catches on the season rated higher than Darius Johnson who almost dragged his Hightower team to a State Championship with spectacular play after spectacular play. Scout deserves this type of criticism because this has been an on-going problem which they refuse to fix. In comparison, I believe Rivals have raised the rankings of SMU commitments about 9 times for at least 7 players to reflect senior performance and offers from other schools. That's the way it should be. Scout on the other hand ranks TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FOUR(that is 274) WIDE RECEIVERS higher than Darius Johnson. Not just players but 274 WRs. And apparently an outstanding Senior Season has no affect on his rating.
