She might be the most improved player on this team. I have only watched her in person once -- at TCU.
But she looks like she has taken that next step to becoming an impact player. She's fearless driving to the basket, looks for her shot and will mix it up for the ball. The double-double at Tulane -- her first I believe -- is witness to that.
In short, she could be becoming the heart and soul of this team. I really believe if she got hurt, we would suffer.
For any of you women's hoops followers, I'd like to know what you think.
Thanks.
P.S. Let's go to EL CRAPO and put the beat down on the Lady Miners. 12-7 and 5-1 coming back home would look mighty nice.
BTW, does anyone know if that hottie for UTEP is still in school -- think she was from South America.

I posted pics of her last year when we played UTEP and I think she was a senior

Claudia Porras. Bolivia.
Kasia Krezel from Poland was not bad either. (not a good photo here)
Yeah, Haley Day has improved this year. She's becoming more comfortable taking her shot (the coaches are telling her to look for it more) and she's always been willing to mix it up. I do think that sometimes she tends to lose where she is on the court and will need to work on her positioning and defense. Small complaint, but it's nice to see our sophs improve so much.

Settle down there. Haley Day is a lot better than last year, and you might be right that she's the most improved player on the team, buit to say she is becoming the heart and soul of the team is premature, at best. She has gone from an unsure sub who rarely got off the bench last year to the team's most consistent outside shooter, a relentless worker and there's nobody even close to her when it comes to drawing charges. But she still is a complementary player. The heart and soul of the team is still the four juniors: Delisha Wills, Al Severin, Brittany Gilliam and Jillian Samuels.

I just think that it is kinda strange that you only see one game in person, which was a while ago, and now decide to post this.
I think that Day is a very good player and a big part of this team. I would not, however, call her the heart and soul of this team.

I just believe that there's something to Haley's game that has transcended rapidly, which is great.
And for the two above posters, please read. I said she could be becoming the heart and soul. That said, I think she has the qualities to be that kind of player for this program.

I have had the opportunity to catch several games this year and Patton, I do think your observations are on point a bit. The four juniors are the leaders of this team. Gilliam is the MVP at this point. But the play of Haley definitely makes her an integral part of this teams performance this year. She makes those hustle plays that are so huge. She's becoming a more confident player all-around. More than anything, it's amazing that she's a player that had limited minutes last year and this year she's worthy of her own PonyFans post! She's a hard worker and you have to give the coaches some credit too for working with her on her game. A solid nucleus of Juniors allows someone like Haley to develop her game over time.

LaShandra Hill has shown similar improvement this year. They're both becoming big parts of the team's recent success.
