Again, the lack of execution in the last four minutes, especially on the defensive end just kills this team. And the last minute in regulation was horrible especially the poorly thrown inbound ball to Fall that was a turnover.
3-point defense is absurd -- like it always is. And they get soundly outrebounded.
When they went up by 6 with 12 minutes to go, that was the time to go for the throat. But they can't do that. You have the crowd jacked up and immediately watch it wither away.
Winnable games that you don't win because you repeatedly don't do the little things well.

it's looking like another classic SMU loss; we consistently manage to play just well enough to lose; it really hurts to lose these games at home. I hope that someday SMU gets to enjoy a home court advantage again. Moody has become one of the most hospitable place an opponent can possibly hope to visit.

This game was hard. We looked pretty good, but they had a good inside game, and great three-point shooting when it counted. There were some real positives, like our 81% free throws, 4 blocks, and 4 of our starters finished with more than 10 points, which shows good offensive balance.

Positives:
Decent crowd, I like the 4pm start. Actually had some students there...wow. This will wear off after rush stuff.
1st half scoring was way up (is this the most they've scored in the 1st half all year?), FT shooting, not as many TO's. No travel calls that I remember. Nykundi is getting better. No fouling in the 2nd half other than the deliberate ones.
Negatives: Outcoached and outhustled in the last 4 minutes. It's like they freeze up and don't know what to do. With 3 minutes left you knew SMU was going to lose. Dia is a wuss and I have no faith he'll get any better. 2pts??? come on dude.
Awful scoring drought after we hit 66-60 lead I think it was. Terrible inbounds play, #1 went off all night inside, our bigs are so soft (they are a joke for defense). Again, please leave Harp off the floor. Faye was really off in positioning, rebounding, pretty much everything.

CP, I think you've had this rant about 5 years going now about crowds.
The crowd was ok - best I've seen this year and probably the best it will be except for the Memphis game....just a guess. The students will give up and not show up after the Rush honeymoon is over.

Nah man, we ended up going to Moody because we didn't have the channel on our TV.

Prediction: Papa Dia will not be here for the 2009-2010 season. He is the absolute biggest puss bag. Regressed. Settles for that BS fade away jumper. He is stealing money for his scholarship.

I assume you are young. Must be to call an "announced crowd" of 3400 OK. I've actually had this rant for 20 years. Post death penalty SMU fans have no idea that we once played big boy football and basketball...and that Moody was a scary place for even Top 20 teams (in those days) to visit. I know you care about SMU athletics...not trying to criticize anyone who supports the program(s). Just hope you get to experience 9k in Moody some day. You will see the difference in the team's energy. We win this game easily with 7500 faithful rocking Moody.

Well said and you are right on point. There is no explaining what we are and what we were. We have gone from a major big time player to irrelevent.

I think you are a puss bag for calling a 20-year college athlete that.
