when will we know the status of Shawnbray's eligibility? Is it likely he will be eligible next season?

We did not find out about Serge until sometime during two-a-days or after. I do not epect it soon but it would be a pleasant surprise to find out early regardless of the outcome. It would help with preparation.

Although I do not usually have much hope for these waivers, I do personally feel we have a good chance on this one. If the reasons are valid, there is no reason for the waiver not to be given.

and.....Hopefully the NCAA, in this special situation, will show some class and approve the waiver, for McNeal's sake, so the young man doesn't have to worry all spring and summer about being able to play this year.

I'd like to be optomistic, but you never can tell with these things. We should hope for the best but prepare for the worst in this scenerio. Lets assume for a second McNeil doesn't get the waiver, who starts at RB next year? My vote would go to Lunday. He seemed to provide a bit of a spark late in the season.
Back off Warchild seriously.

As I understand it, Ben Goldthorpe spent this season trying to figure out the RB position. Hopefully he'll make a run at it.

Evaluation

(Done for the Class of 2007) McNeal is a jet. He looks like a small receiver but runs with a running back's mentality. He is quick, exploisve and speedy -- the ultimate space player but with surprising toughness, too. Reminds us of last year's Chevon Walker from Florida. He is the perfect fit for the spread offense because he could line up as a wing, slot receiver and one-back running back. He shows impressive initial quickness and burst through the line of scrimmage. He sees blocks developing and is able to make sharp cuts in order to get through a tiny crease. Has Eric Metcalf-type movements. Lateral quickness and stop/start ability are outstanding. Will routinely bounce plays to the outside and has that rare stutter-step to control defenders and break them down in the open field. Shows decisive cutting skills. He will lower his shoulder and runs tough and hard, although he is not equipped to handle a full load in a power running game. Displays nice patience, will leap-frog would-be tacklers and get back to full speed in a hurry. Has great upside as a receiver out of the slot. Is a mismatch for linebackers and some safeties. Could develop into a scary punt return specialist with added experience in that role. The problem is that he isn't very big. Needs to add bulk and strength to hold up in a full-time running back role at the next level. He is a hybrid running back/slot receiver who will most likely be a jack of all trades. Overall, McNeal has explosiveness and speed you can't teach and is a big-play threat each time he touches the ball.

Notes
Originally signed with Miami as part of its Class of 2007. Rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons. Transfer was to deal with family issues in Dallas (InsideTheU.com)...

I think Butler or mcNeil starts. Butler was the man he just didnt get to play much and then got hurt.

If McNeal gets the waiver, and I truly believe he will, he's the man.

No way — he cut off his hair, and since Sampson was from Arkansas, I assume they're related.

If McNeal is a high-profile scout-teamer (that's my guess), Butler is the man.
