Supposedly, this was the lowest points scored by an SMU team in a C-USA game. Road game against a low scoring team, so it's not a huge shocker. The margin of loss was surprising.

Keep pumping and eventually the water will start flowing.

I should leave that one alone. Of course, the device in my avatar uses water and helps start a flow

LOL. Good idea.

In today's DMN, McCoy said that Doh uses that saying to keep the team motivated.

Maybe he needs to find a new saying.

Kids are really down, team has no confidence, inexperience hurts and the absence of any leadership is a killer. In addition, he has no recruiting prospects who can come in and turn things around. Yep, he has a major delimma.

Wasn't Paul McCoy supposed to be that player? Wasn't he a top 10 PG in the country as a senior?

Its obvious that every conference team is concentrating on taking McCoy out of the game & forcing others to beat them. I am really impressed with how he has handled himself as a true freshman.
It makes it even more difficult for him because we have no low post scoring presence.

And when you have zero help from anyone in the post, it puts more pressure on you. Williams can only do so much.

This is exactly what I thought was going to happen. Guard were going to be pretty good but gassed by late Jan./early Feb. BECAUSE OUR FRONT COURT FLAT OUT STINKS!!!

He was ranked the #31 pg in the nation by ESPN.
He was ranked the #18 pg in the nation by Scout & he had a 3 star NR with Rivals.

Teams are content to let us bomb away from the outside with great comfort that we can't make a shot. We have no consistent outside shooter. That is the major flaw on this team. Mo Faye, Nyakundi are big enough that they should try and post up once in awhile especially when the opponents are small. Even if they are on the high post around the free throw line, they might do better than they are doing. They are not the second coming of Kobe and shouldn't be bombing from the arc. If teams are sagging in, and we can't hit threes or 18 footers, I hate to say it, but we won't win many games. You can't drive and dish on that without getting into foul trouble. Your big men are not going to help if you can't get them the ball in the paint. We don't seem to have a guy who can shoot 17-21 footers at a 50%-60% clip. If we had that one talent, this team would be better. But teams know our M.O. which is we can't shoot outside. You can't play inside out without the out.

Good points & it all falls on Doh for recruiting players that can't execute the O or D & most importantly kids that can't shoot the basketball.

Darn........if only we didn't have a charter plane, this all could have been avoided....

"January 27
"Travel Day"
Today we had a 7am practice and we were scheduled to depart Love Field at 4pm on a charter flight to Orlando as we play UCF tomorrow. However, Mother Nature had other plans. With the potential for heavy ice in Dallas we had to audible and move our flight up to noon! We barely got out as the ice was quickly moving our way.

Having just landed in Orlando I am thankful for the charter plane. If we didn't have the flexibility it afforded us we may never made it to Florida!

Exactly! Best case scenario would've been not going to Orlando at all and saving the time and money to get embarrassed. But even if they had to catch a commercial flight the morning of the game, there's no way they could've played worse. Heck, maybe stepping off the plane and playing would help these guys since clearly Doh's pregame preparation isn't helping them at all. Didn't the women actually face a situation similar to this last season?

Oh well, good thing we have an extra $50K available (anyone know how much a charter flight runs?) thanks to our guarantee games and sellout crowds at home...unfortunately this program is a waste of time and money these days...
