Stallion...have any more info? I feel REALLY, REALLY good about this DeMyron Martin, RB from Allen. Stay tuned...but need more info.
By the way, SMU is involved with a QB (not Elliott as Peruna Punch suggested) But we are very much involved with this QB that had been previously written off. Stay tuned!!

well he got another 188 yards on only 22 carries in losing effort to Todd Dodge's Southlake Carroll on Saturday. Finished the year a couple of yards short of 2,000 and had over 9 yards per carry. He looks like a good one-Aggies were supposed to offer but he appears to have SMU high on his list.

I like the suggestion that Martin & Massey can be the next generation M & M Boys (that's Alvin Maxson and Wayne Morris for you younger guys). Mix in the big boys, Chris Hall and Marcus Shavers and I do believe SMU will soon be fielding a very competitive team.

For those who missed it earlier, here's Recruiting Guru's take on Martin from a couple weeks ago:
"You're right, Martin is one of the most mysterious cases in this year's recruiting race. Here's a guy who has good size (I have him at 6-0, 190) and I think that 4.5 is real -- that's the number I have on him, too. He runs a little upright for my taste, kind of like Eric Dickerson's style, but he's amazingly fluid. He when he turns the corner on a pitch, he looks like a small forward getting out on the wing for a fast break. He showed soft hands as a receiver on the limiter number of throws that went his way, and he's pretty durable -- to the best of my knowledge, he has no history of serious injuries. Despite his listed weight, he is extremely slender, and might well grow into a 220-pound back. He's very adept at getting his shoulders square (toward the line of scrimmage) and when he sees a hole, he accelerates very quickly -- with the proposed added weight, he might look like a poor man's Eddie George. SMU already has some talented RBs, but this should be a no-brainer offer. If need be, you find another place to get a great athlete on the field, and Martin is a pretty good one."
Guru usually is about as on-the-mark as anyone I've found anywhere on the Internet when it comes to this stuff. Sounds like this kid is a real keeper! We'll know for sure in a couple of years, of course, but the early projection is nice -- REAL nice.

Hey Stampede!!!
I never, ever said the QB we were trying to land was Elliott. I think you and I are both talking about the same guy... The one who signed elsewhere, but whom Bennett thinks we're still in the lottery for.

If Martin even smells like Eric Dickerson or Eddie George, I'm thrilled he's a Mustang!
