SMU's 2007 class had 7 players, 6 of which were 3 stars according to Rivals.

SMU's 2008 class had 4 players, 2 of which were rated 3 stars according to Rivals and 1 that wasn't rated bc he was a JUCO (Derrick Williams).

I do agree with the general premise that our paltry crowds don't help impress blue chip recruits when they are considering offers from schools that really pack in the fans. A lot of that is a function of winning though. I can see both sides to this discussion.

It is stupid to even argue about this. You will NEVER get fans to show up to watch a team that you don't expect to at least be competitive. Until you can field a halfway decent team nobody wants to watch it.

But our paltry crowd could at least wear S.M.U. shirts, that would

impress the recruits better than not showing any spirit at all.
