Site of one of the best SMU-A&M games in recent history. Who could forget that wonderful tie?
The aggies. They can't even remember how to tie their own shoes

I can't believe LSU does not want a recruiting trip to Dallas. They get a gimme win and exposure to Dallas. Hawaii is a terrible choice-another away game with zero fans.

They miight if we gave the entire allotment of tickets to Ford Stadium to LSU. On second thought, even then it probably wouldn't be enough.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Good, now let's get a MAC team or a lower tier struggling BCS team on the schedule (a non body bag game).

We are replacing the 2011 with a I-AA game. I guarantee it. Not sure what we will do with the 2012 game.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'm sad about this one. I was hoping that we'd get to keep at least some of the games with the Aggies. I'd like to see us maybe get a series with Vanderbilt, Duke, Northwestern, Stanford, Wake Forest, Virginia, Notre Dame, Indiana or Boston College. That way we would get credit for playing a BCS team without playing a real BCS team if we were to actually beat one of them. And given that we're coming off a 1-11 season, those teams might actually think it might be a body bag game in their favor. A game with LSU at Gerry World, Reliant, AlamoDome with it being our home game and ticket allotment of 70% to LSU would not be a bad idea, either except we'd get slaughtered.

Two things:
1. Maybe we will schedule Hawaii; maybe not. I will note that Hawaii had an opening for a home game in 2009 and we had an opening for a road game in 2009, but we are not playing them. Seems to me Jones is not as excited to play there again as some people think.
2. Look at the way June Jones scheduled every year at Hawaii. He wants a I-AA game every year. You can wax nostalgic about any school you want, but Jones wants a creampuff every year.

Only problem is that in any SMU scenario right now, we are the cream puff.

You are *really* distorting the record on Hawaii's schedule under JJ. JJ wanted more input into the schedule, but Hawaii's AD refused his help. The only game I remember JJ being credited with setting up was against Florida...not exactly a creampuff.
For the 2007 season, Hawaii's AD messed up the schedule so badly...he was so late in scheduling because he was hoping for a game with USC (even though Idaho and USC already had a game scheduled on the date Hawaii wanted) that Hawaii turned down BYU and other schools. JJ and Mike Leach reportedly were discussing having a season-opening game on national TV (Colt Brennan vs. Graham Harrell would have been entertaining!), but Hawaii's AD refused. Finally, when it was too late to get real teams scheduled, Hawaii's AD paid big money to get *two* D-IAA teams for 2007...and JJ was very unhappy.
Hawaii needs one D-IAA team on its schedule because of budgetary conditions--buying the extra home game (no return road game needed for D-IAA teams) means extra money.

I was going to make the same point-several schools including UT, USC and Big Ten schools backed out on Hawaii forcing them to often search for last minute games. My impression is that Hawaii would pretty much play anybody that was willing to have a home and home.

USC opens their 2010 season at Hawaii, so I don't know when they "backed out" of a game with the Warriors. http://usctrojans.cstv.com/sports/m-foo ... cheds.htmlStallion wrote:My impression is that Hawaii would pretty much play anybody that was willing to have a home and home.
That's true. They've played most of the Pac-10 schools, but have a tougher time scheduling teams further east with any regularity.

I'm sure Garret will be able to give a year-didn't he mention something about USC above. And I definitely remember UT backing out of a trip to Hawaii. Caught a lot of flax.

Which is why they wear white linen even after Labor Day.

USC hasn't backed out of games with Hawaii--they *love* to recruit in Hawaii and they schedule periodic games with Hawaii so they can tell recruits they will play Hawaii at least once during their career.
What happened in the 2007 season is that USC had a game with Idaho scheduled, and Hawaii's AD decided that it would be great if Idaho voluntarily gave up that game and let USC play Hawaii. Idaho understandably did NOT like that idea! Hawaii's AD then got the wonderful idea that Michigan could play Idaho and pay Idaho the same fee that USC was going to pay Idaho for traveling to their stadium. Unfortunately, Michigan didn't really see the attraction for them to play Idaho and Idaho preferred to play USC...so that whole idea failed. Michigan filled their opening game with Appalachian State--I bet in hindsight they would have preferred Idaho!
Texas backed out of their Hawaii game and there was NO cancellation clause, which was bad for Hawaii. Another BCS school backed out a few years ago, but I can't remember which one that is right now...maybe Michigan State? I think Michigan State paid $200k or so for canceling.
