If you come here just to work and send money out of our country/economy, you live in apartment complexes full of immigrants, and work jobs dominated by immigrants, you aren't exactly part of our society. Why would they cheer for US soccer against Mexico?

On a side note, we should be exploiting the mexicans by promoting SMU soccer to them. We could be making a fortune off those people, they have to be starved for live soccer to watch!

So often you see a player who is too timid to take that shot late in the game, and they choose to pass it off rather than attempt to ice the game.

Too true, I saw that one. I get to watch more hockey these days than soccer, and I think of so many times when people give up a shot opportunity to pass it off - but in hockey - it's so quick that even a soft shot when the goalie is thinking pass could be good. I too was at least happy he took the shot.

I must note, though, now that we can seemingly play badly and beat our top CONCACF rival, isn't it time that we started to expect more from our National side?

We have a good national side until we get to the World Cup.

we had nightmare of a group in the last world cup. italy, ghana, and the czech republic were top ten sides back then. our team keeps getting better and better. we'll make some noise in 2010

Just to make this mildly SMU related, did any ex-Mustang soccer players play last night?

Haha.

I hope this warning, for me was meant for others. I am not, in fact, dumb. I chose not to go into the fact that Spanish might not do me a lick of good in Barcelona. That's why I added the other two cities.

However, Barcelona is my number one target of the three. SO I've done my research..... or more rightly have known what they speak there since I was, maybe 10.

I'm not trying to give you crap here Calallen... I think you know we have a good relationship, but c'mon? You had to know that I knew what was spoken in cities I might want to move to!

Pax, homey.

I had a good feeling that you did, in fact, know.

I spent some time in Nice...it was nice.

The Mediterranean has some of the bluest water I've ever seen.

Odd, really.

FYI, we lose to Mexico when we play in Mexico. We beat them when we play here, usually by 2-0.

Since I was actually at the US matches in the 2006 World Cup, I was as disappointed as anyone that we didn't advance, but acting like the US team is a bunch of chokers who haven't lived up to expectations is a bit extreme. Until 2006, there were absolutely NO expectations of success for the US team -- in 2002 they were a huge positive surprise. Although everyone thought we had a much better squad in 2006 and actually belonged, we were also in the Group of Death with the eventual champion, a strong Czech team (we shouldn't have lost like we did 3 nil, but it's not like anyone was thinking we were going into a cakewalk), plus the strongest African team.

Former SMU defender Ugo Ihemelu was in the camp before the game, training with the team, but didn't make the roster, I don't think.

He has earned an international cap before, and hopefully will make the team soon - he deserves it.
