I thought it was Michigan, and I thought Appalachian State was the replacement they got. I could be misremembering though...

I'd like to see us maybe get a series with Vanderbilt, Duke, Northwestern, Stanford, Wake Forest, Virginia, Notre Dame, Indiana or Boston College. That way we would get credit for playing a BCS team without playing a real BCS team if we were to actually beat one of them. And given that we're coming off a 1-11 season, those teams might actually think it might be a body bag game in their favor. A game with LSU at Gerry World, Reliant, AlamoDome with it being our home game and ticket allotment of 70% to LSU would not be a bad idea, either except we'd get slaughtered.
This is a real bummer. I was really looking forward to the whole Aggie atmosphere/experience. Not excited about playing Hawaii.
Also, Rice has played UT @ Reliant a couple of times over the last few years with some really good crowds.

If we can't play A$M, we need to at least keep the tech games going. I would rather play TEXAS than Hawaii. I heard UT wanted tp play us and would play us in here at Jerry's world, but SMU will not do it. They,UT.will not play us at Ford either....TRUTH IS.....The blvd. is awesome, but otherwise the benefits of playing at Ford have been disappointing.

with only 32k seats, we won't get big time programs to come in here and play at Ford. They come to Dallas for their fans and for exposure/recruiting, but still need to make some $. If we had a larger following and Ford had been built as a bowl (seating 45k), might be a different story.

Fact is, SMU is going to have to be willing to play some games at Jerry's World against schuduled BCS quality teams. If not then Mr. Ford and associates need to understand that SMU will never play a "BIG TIME" program at present Ford Stadium. They will not come and fact is they all keep dropping off the schedule.....I mean if they really want this program to move forward at Ford, their ONLY other shot would be to go ahead and shell out another 20 Million or so to unlarge Ford to an acceptable Div. 1 level( approx. 50,000). Then Big Time programs will play us here.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but here is a list of Div. 1 football programs that play in less that "approx. 50,000" capacity stadiums (which I've taken to mean anything less than 45,000 ---- I also excluded MAC and Sun Belt teams for the sake of brevity):
Boston College (44,500)
TCU (44,008)
ECU (43,000)
Louisville (42,000)
Rutgers (41,500)
Fresno (41, 031)
Connecticut (40,000)
Army (40,000)
Vanderbilt (39,790)
New Mexico (38,634)
Marshall (38,016)
UNLV (36,800)
Southern Miss (36,000)
Tulsa (35,542)
Washington State (35,117)
Cincinnatti (35,000)
Colorado State (34,400)
Navy (34,000)
Duke (33,391)
Wyoming (32,580)
Houston (32,000)
Wake Forest (31,500)
La Tech (30,600)
San Jose State (30,556)
New Mexico State (30,343)
Boise State (30,000)

I have been to a number of these stadiums, many look much larger that the numbers you have quoted. Even Wake and Vandy look larger than the numbers suggest. I guess it is the small end zone capacities.

I think it is the huge pressboxes combined with Ford being half underground/able to see ground level in the endzone. Ford, while nice, is a very small-time feeling stadium inside. Feels even smaller than it is.
