if you go by the 5.7 rating Rivals gave Darius he should have been a Texas Top 100 last year Rivals had something like 94 players rated 5.7 or higher. They just jumped about 6 guys rated lower than Johnson. But Rivals did a lot better than Scout. I just asked Mike Zepeda who ranks Texas players for Scout to explain how they rated Johnson as the No. 276 WIDE RECEIVER in the country. How can anyone take Scout seriously after that rating. BUT the new guy is doing a pretty nice job. Not as good as Armen at Rivals but its another good source of SMU information again.

I bet once other schools get to look at him he will have many more offers from BCS schools and therefore a higher ranking. Just speculation on my part as well.
The #76 ranked player in Texas on Rivals Top 100 for 09 was a 3 star.
What does everone think O'Guin needs to be rated star wise to have the "Pied Piper", "Bandwagon", "Snowball" effect on other recrutis?

He is a DT. It isn't a sexy enough position to be a "Pied Piper" unless he were a top 10-15ih player in the state. What we would need as a "Pied Piper" recruit would be a top QB or WR committing. That would signal to people that top recruits on O think they can come to SMU and flourish under JJ. My opinion on the matter.

for what its worth Alan Zepeda responded that he requested late in the season that Darius Johnson be upgraded to a mid 3 Star on Scout but it just never went through for whatever reason. Scout's really got a problem with ranking and upgrading recruits. Its just not as responsive to changes on the recruiting scene that it needs to be.

Am very excited about this commitment and hope JJ and staff can keep the momentum going.
I think it is funny how everyone is now interested in his ranking…Rivals, Texas Top 100 and otherwise.
I guess Rivals Star rankings DO matter….

Big news. I don't know the first thing about football recruiting but if six pages of people are happy on this board - I'm happy

Everyone talks about Bobby Hayes being the only person to win a Gold Medal and a Super Bowl ring…wonder how many have won Silver Medals and Super Bowls.
I believe Michael has 3 Super Bowl rings.

So y'all are saying, then, that you like the Darius Johnson signing.

Not to mention that the Scout website layout is bush league. Rivals just looks 1,000,000x more professional than scout.Scout looks like a website a student put together in Web Design 1.0....
