A couple of days ago, someone on this board asked for a recruiting summary. So I gave one. And that is that. Like I said in my original post, it is a miracle that Bennett has gotten the commitments that he has because of the 0-12 season. And I didn't badmouth any of the recruits. If they are unknowns, they are unknowns, and I pointed that out. Grading whether thay are going to be an "A" player or a "D+" player is ridiculous because none of these kids have stepped on the field at the college level.
However, for those people concerned about how our class stacks up, we can certainly try and estimate if they are "quality" recruits are not. Bobby Chase may have great hands, and those who have seen him might think he has great potential. However, from the scouting point of view, he IS a bit of an unknown because he didn't play much this year at the JUCO due to injury. He MIGHT turn out to be a great player for SMU, but at this point in time, he would have to be concidered an unknown.
That is all, it isn't a knock on the player. Bordanno and I think Craig Swann are excellent examples of damonds in the rough. And SMU has done a terrific job of finding some of those players over the last few year.
HOWEVER, I would also like to point out that although some "B" or "A" recruited players turn out to be busts, they tend to succeed a bit more often than the lesser recruited players. Hence the term "diamond in the rough" - it is a rarity.
So, yes, I do believe it is a proper estimate of the strength of a recruiting class to see what the accolades are.
I would never personally attack or knock a kid that just wants to play football. And I certainly hope that the original post did not come across that way. I was just trying to provide an overview of what is rumored to be the incoming class

And yes, the coaches have watched MUCH more game tapes than I, and they may very well have the inside track on some unknown players. I am just expressing things from the only perspective I have access to
