For the first time since he left office, George W. Bush today visited Southern Methodist University, the campus that will house his presidential library center.

Bush was a surprise speaker in an introductory course on American government and politics.

Afterward, the former president stood outside the Dedman Life Sciences Building in the north part of campus, speaking with students and shaking hands.

Jessica Pecena, an SMU senior from Grand Prairie, was walking to her car in a garage behind the building when she noticed Dallas police cars and black unmarked SUVs. As she got closer, she saw Bush surrounded by about 30 students.

“It was a pleasant surprise for everyone who just happened to be walking by,â€

Apparently, W has a makeshift locker, complete with a proper SMU football name tag, in the coaches lockerroom and intends on working out as much as he can in the weight room.
