Captain Crunch's Buddy Colin Ashley To Walkon at Arkansas

Post by Stallion »

From the Recruiting Guy (Little Rock)

It appears Arkansas will be getting one of the better Dallas/Fort Worth-area prospects to walk on this fall.

Flower Mound, Texas, athlete Collin Ashley, 6-0, 170 pounds, 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash, played cornerback and receiver as a junior but played mainly at receiver last season. He recorded 71 receptions for 955 yards and 17 touchdowns and earned Texas Sports Writers Association Class 5A thirdteam all-state honors and was honorable mention as a kick returner this past season.

Ashley contacted recruiting coordinator Tim Horton a couple of days before Feb. 4, national signing day.

"I pretty much told him that I didn't have anything that I'm interested in," said Ashley, who's originally from Monticello. "And that I was choosing between them and [Texas] Tech and I let him know I was walking on. He told me that was great and they would love to have me. I called him a couple of days afterward and told him about applying to school, and I told him that I was 99 percent sure I was coming there."

Ashley received notification a couple of weeks ago that his application to Arkansas had been accepted. He said Horton mentioned the possibility of Arkansas using him on special teams, along with a spot on offense or defense.

Wake Forest offered Ashley a scholarship last May, while Marshall, UNLV, Colorado and Sam Houston State indicated offers were on the table.

"They didn't officially offer me, but they told me they would if I was interested." Ashley said. "I decided I won't take a scholarship to some place I don't want to go. I feel like I can earn a scholarship wherever I go."

I am not getting the Captain Crunch part. Am I on the outside of an inside joke?

Didn't he have a few D-1 offers?

That's me. I already knew about this on signing day. He had offers from Wake Forest and UNLV. Have no idea if he just passed or they passed on him.

The keeper can make jokes but maybe he and his suckwad friends at Rivals can explain why they gave 3 stars to a guy who never signed. Did they goof?

Evidently the guy has the money to go where he wants to. Don't know about the Captain Crunch name though.
When will I start feeling stimulated??
