No OL Commits 'cause there's NO POSITION COACH!!!!

I've got to believe this is really hurting us in recruiting OL- it sounds like Shankweiler "de-committed." If so, not a very good example for young men anyway. I hope Bennett will find someone better

And I suppose no one committed to UNeb because there was no head coach the past 8 weeks.

as a matter of fact Nebraska hasn't got a commitment from a HS player since 10/28 according to the Insiders. They got a commitment from a JC kid on November 16. It has become critical starting with this weekend's visits to get an OLM coach because the Dead and Quiet Periods are ending.

The way it was explained to me:

The top OL candidates are (again) enormous and exceptionally talented. These are the guys who will get offers from all the top schools. But apparently the dropoff between the top guys and the next tier of guys is greater than in years past. That, coupled with the number of guys we have returning and their potential, has created the feeling that we won't take any OL just to say we took OLs. There were a bunch on the roster who didn't play last year, including the redshirt guys, and the general feeling is that some of them are going to be good -- maybe REALLY good. So I think they would prefer to ride the guys they have, work hard to bring out the best in the guys already in place and then grab some new guys next year. If a stellar player falls into their laps this year, sure -- they'll take him. But they don't want to offer a guy just because he's a big guy. And as much as I (and the rest of us) want to see the offensive line play better this year, I think they're taking the right approach. No need to waste a scholarship just to appease those who count the numbers at each position in a recruiting class, instead of the quality of each player in the class.

Ribitzki (6-6, 280 OL) from Burleson may fall into your laps. Commited to Kansas, but Jayhawks pulled the offer (want more D recruits).
