almost every Texas player SMU has offered is on this list reinforcing my long held belief that SMU's List of top players is pretty much the same as everybody else's list. This is just the first year we decided to actually offer them. Phil Bennett's Super Secret Sleeper List notwithstanding.

Im glad to see us offering the top talent. At this stage of recruiting its worth a shot...Even if we only get 1 or 2 its a start. Afterall UT cant take every recruit in Texas.

It is the smartest thing to do. As months go on, some of these guys with gradually be dropped from the elite teams recruiting lists as they fill their needs with other players. Just staying on them leaves us as an option for them. Don't think we will get many of them this year but our name being associated with them helps in the future. Have to do better on the field to go along with the increased recruiting effort. Just not going to happen overnight.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Agreed. Also, let us not forget the relationships we are building with these players and their coaches/parents/teammates. Even if we don't get these players, we are setting ourselves up for good things. Just read the story about Darius Johnson's teammate!!

One thing to keep in mind-neither Rivals or Scout has really come out with even their first Texas Top 100. The List showing right now on Rivals and Scout are actually the Lone Star Recruiting, Burnt Orange, TexAgs and other Lists which are generally affiliates of the Texas or A&M Rivals and Scout sites. For example, Geoff Ketchum who runs the Texas Scout site calls its first list a preliminary look-see and its editor admits that they haven't viewed film on even all the Top players in the State. So they might be somewhat more heavily balanced toward kids they've seen at their camps.

Texas No. 3 Reggie Wilson to UT. UT now has 14 of Texas Top 30. All 21 Commitments are in the Composite Top 58 players in Texas.

Putting this Class in perspective:

Texas is now 21-0 against the NCAA Field according to Rivals(ie not a single recruit UT has offered has committed to another school). Texas does have 9 outstanding offers to uncommitted players though-including three 5 Stars and Five 4 Stars.

Texas is now 12-0 head to head against OU and 13-0 head to head with A&M,

I've been following Texas recruiting for a long time (since the SWC days) and I cannot remember a year like this before. Every player that Texas and Oklahoma (and Texas A&M) have battled for has so far picked Texas...and the quality of the recruits seems higher than normal.

I thought that Texas only has 4 or 5 offers out as of now? Some of the 9 offers reported are not valid anymore or the players were not actually offered.

actually, if there is a weakness-Texas doesn't have a 5 Star commitment(however Rivals has only released about 12 so far-there will be about 35 when completed) and Wilson is the first of the Texas Top 5-but most of those kids are still considering Texas too.
