Haven't you expected that every year for the last 20?
Yep. And that will never change. Cynicism gets you nowhere except to sound like an old beaten down sprorts writer.

Always look on the bright side of life.

I thought you were an old beaten down sports writer.

exactly where did 20 years of optimism get you? Justifiable cynicism doesn't make us any less of a fan

Let me tell you a story about the [Pony] Boy who cried Bowl Games/Championships/NCAA Tournaments to the Town Folk one too many times.

HINT: When SMU finally was in a position to improve the program-nobody in the Town believed the [Pony] Boy

You would think after all this time, they would catch on....

Realistically, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything that has been done internally to re-shape the program will start to take hold. It's important to get our name out there to every kid possible.

It's like targeted mail campaign, which has a funneling effect. You cast a wide net, catch a decent number until you can zero in on and procure the best 25.

We are now in a position where we don't have to sell against ourselves. It takes one player to turn the corner and get more good players to come.

Perhaps Darius Johnson was the one to do it. We'll see.

Can't argue with anything you say, but....... if we have another season like the last two, we will lose most of, if not all of the little momentum we have going this recruiting season. Nearly all the changes Stallion railed for all those years have at least been somewhat addressed and there are simply no more excuses. DP hurt for a long while, but should have been a non factor the last 10 or more years.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Hey, that wasn't nearly as embarassing as misquoting the words to Varsity.

I think we agree that this program's heading in the right direction.
