Saw'em Off is really more of a decoration than anything. Its just kind of another aTm logo. I never met anyone at A&M who really had more animosity towards tu than any other school in the Big XII.

Heres an honest run down of how most people I knew at A&M felt:

tu - pretend to dislike them b/c you are supposed to. actually wish them well in every game except 1 (or 2 depending on how OU is doing).

OU - pretend like they care about us at all. actually know they really are surprised when someone tells them A&M is in the big XII south.

Tceh - pretend to not care in the least about them in public. actually nurse a blind seething hatred for anything/anyone affiliated with them (except maybe Zach Thomas).

Baylor - honestly do not care...ya they beat us last year, but so did everyone else.

Okie Lite - meh

Im looking forward to a different set of teams to talk about for awhile. Can anyone give me the SMU "party line" on the CUSA teams?

ECU - BE/ACC wanna bes. Good football team this year. In Greenville NC, - near nothing.
Marshall - they're in WVA - think missing chromosomes. Actually, nice folks. Huntington WVA is a dump. Football team suffered the real death penalty when their plane crashed and they had to rebuild from scratch.
UCF - George O'Leary coached team. Usually in the thick of things in football. In Orlando, our Disney team.
UAB - good basketball program. In Birmingham.
USM - historically good football, then they fired Bower. Hired Larry Eustacy for basketball after his little indiscretion.
Memphis - great basketball program. Football mediocre.
Tulane - like SMU in many ways. In New Orleans!!!!
UH - good football and basketball, commuter school.
UTEP - surprisingly good crowds, travel well all over the state. El Paso and Juarez used to be good stops, now a bit more dicey.
Rice - great school academically. Had a couple of good years in football.
Tulsa - historically good at basketball, but has a solid football program under Graham.
SMU - well you know.

CUSA has schools in some excellent demographic spots, Orlando, Dallas, New Orleans, Memphis and Houston. Also some good secondary markets, like Tulsa, El Paso and Birmingham. Then some places where you look for inbred banjo players like USM, ECU and Marshall.

Dude. In College Station they cant even have a Hooters because of how weird Aggies are about UT. The law In CS is that any business that has orange in its colors must put some maroon in with it . Well Hooters refused to do this. Whataburger however did comply and if you drive through CS you will notice that they have a maroon stripe

Not to mention the entire fight song. And as far as student body, just walking through campus you will see on a given day about 5 % of the student body wears some kind of anti-UT shirt.

However, Other than the whole UT [deleted] envy thing , I like A & m : :D

Having grown up in the Dallas area (Pleasant Grove and Mesquite, represent) and spent the last *mumble* years in College Station, I can say that College Station is no toilet, but it for sure cant compare with Dallas. Its ok.

Nice to have another Grove rat on the board. W.W. Samuell

My dad grew up in the Grove on Lovett Street and went to Samuell, I believe the first year it opened. He was a math major at SMU.

hence the pretending to dislike tu because you are supposed to dislike them.

its kind of an old guard thing that will never go away. a good natured rivalry and animosity are 2 different things completely.

i will always refer to the university in austin as tu, because I was indoctrinated to do that, but I really dont have anything personally against tu or its students.

On a note that is completely unrelated, but doesn't warrant its own topic...

I notice some posters have avatars and some don't. Do I need to hit a certain post count to be allowed an av, or am I just missing the place to link it in my profile? Please advise.

just send a pm to the moderators and put "whoop" in the subject line and they'll know what you're talking about.

in my profile, the Profile Information section has:

ICQ Number
AIM Address
MSN Messenger
Yahoo Messenger
Website
Location
Occupation
Interests
Signature

Not to turn this into a tech support thread, but apparently I am "differently abled" at this. There is only a series of the normal forum yes/no questions after the Profile Information section (and date, timezone, language, style boxes)

Also, RGV seems to have a distaste for A&M...do we need to hug this out?
