Why are All These Schools Clients of a Recruiting Service?
Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower
ADs and staff's follow message boards and services for a variety of reasons. Having a 3rd party recruiting consultant is nothing new. Guys like Bob Gibbons & Charlie Weber in hoops, made quite a bit of money that way over the years.

Gotcha. Yea, you'd be right about the services, even 3rd party consultants. At many schools, the grad assistant is in charge of monitoring school message boards, as well. They have the Bat phone to the sites publisher if things get out of hand, credentials threatened by the AD etc.Stallion wrote:PonyDoh-I know they ALL do-all of them have Rivals and Scout and others-but I'ver been hearing for years on this board that wasn't the case-that Coaches don't use them.
If you just look at the SMU sites, its clear the football staff understands how to create hype and use the medium, while the hoops staff acts like they've been burned in the past. I'd pay good money for SMU to shut Dohs blog down, but have sources let Armen or whomever, know about interested hoops prospects. I could care less what two-faced bs blog entry Doh submits, compared to a legit story on a hoops prospect who has SMU interest.
