Will Bamba be replaced?

Postby The PonyGrad » Mon Mar 09, 2009 12:03 pm

It is not looking good. Dia is an on-going question mark. TK is still a project.

Perhaps we will go with a different style of play. There are a lot of 3-4 guard teams out there.

Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!!

Need Papa to pull his head out this offseason, hit the weights and be ready for November. He has the talent, he just needs to get better. If he can put it together, I think we are in good shape.

Otherwise, we will have to play a smaller lineup.

Remember so far our only recruit is a 7 footer from the DC area. He is a project, but at least is coming out of one of the toughest HS leagues in the Country, so he's faced some of the best players already. I suspect he'll appear in the McDonald's classic on the DC team.

I actually think Julius Francis will be a good replacement for Bamba and will ultimately be a more talented offensive player that might be able to score in the low post. Looked to me like he will be stronger (physically/as a senior) than Bamba was...but don't look for him to come in as a FR and give us the kind of numbers Bamba produced this year. I think he looks to be a year ahead of where Bamba was as an incoming FR in terms of his development.

This team need some muscle at the 4/5 spot and I don't see a guy on the roster who can provide that next year.

Forget replacing him, we need a major upgrade. I know that's a tall order (no pun intended), but in case you haven't noticed, our team is AWFUL. McCoy is the real deal and we have some nice role players, but what we need is for Doh to pull his head out and go recruit some big-time big men (or at least A big time big man). If he needs to go to France or Greece or Mars, I don't care, but there are good big men out there. They don't have be 7' tall. Oklahoma State is getting it done this year with no starter taller than what? 6'6"?

We just some ballers.

I only want them if they are shot-callers and/or brawlers.

Sadly, I fear we will miss Bamba more than we should......Otis needs to develop another move down low, be able to hit a 10 footer, and greatly improve his free throw shooting ( Doh, work your magic like you did for Bamba) and oh, yeah, he is kinda short. Whew, that's a lot of improvement.... Dia is following in our long line of underachievers and he exhibits no knowledge - maybe desire - of how to establish himself down low. I wonder if TK can walk and chew gum at the same time. Could we please get our guys to understand the meaning of back side positioning for rebounds???

Our guards very seldom look down low and at this point, I can't really blame them. Odds are a turnover is much more likely to happen than a basket. Kinda makes us easy to defend..............

Same reason we lose so many offensive boards. They are stolen out of our hands.
