Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?Just curious to see if anyone went to Bennett's recruiting talk this morning. A summary would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk? And a summary you shall not get as we were all sworn to secrecy.
It was probably very informative for those that don't read this board, but if you come here, you probably know most of what was said. Ironically, the stuff we didn't know is probably the stuff that shouldn't get posted. There wasn't that much new info, though. It was interesting to get Bennett's thoughts on a couple of the guys coming in and the JuCo's and the transfers. I didn't get much out of it other than a morale boost and the chance to hear from the new coaches. And you heard from them about what you'd expect to hear from new coaches. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?Because of the sensitivity of the information shared this morning, those that were in attendance have been asked to not let the information go beyond the meeting room. I can tell you that it sounds like the coaches are for the most part getting the players they want and that this class may be every bit as good as last years class. The new coaches were introduced and talked a little bit about what to expect next year from the offense..it should be much more fun to watch than last year. I didn't take notes, so I can only give you an idea of what they said and not specifics, but I was really encouraged with all they had to say and excited for next season to start.

Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?It was a bunch on Rah, Rah BS and the coaches don't want to get called on it.
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?As I said before... I can't wait to get back to dallas! Sounds like the discussion had a pretty positive tone to it. If the coaches swore you to secrecy, by all means keep that promise!
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?Burns and Vinklarek (pronounced "Vin-Clark", if I heard correctly), look different than their pictures.
I guess I am a jaded SMU fan, 'cause I have a hard time believing Burns and Bennett that we will be throwing the ball 60% of the time. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?hope we don't - seems like if we keep increasing talent at OL, FB and TE we can run all day in the WAC.
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk? After signing day you can tell anyone you want what they said and then anyone including yourself can call them on it if it turns out to be "Rah, Rah BS" as you call it. You were there weren't you? SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?Burns said the 60/40 pass/run ratio is really an ideal. He said it could easily go 60/40 the other way based on the opponent. The offense sounds rather complex and unpredictable, which the average fan is going to like. But I imagine it'll tough to implement...
The other tidbit that I think is fair to disseminate is that including the transfers, the guys we want to give scholarships to from last year, and this year's class, we're at 18 scholarships. There are potentially two more available: one for a potential WR and one for a potential OL. Otherwise, we're happy and set with the current group, and will hold those 2 ships over for next year. Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?I was about to say that I wasn't aware of a single recruit we were still actively recruiting presently other than I guess we'd keep a shot open for Massey. The only OLM I'm aware of that we might have interest in is pretty stale info-guesses would be DeSoto's Quiten Turner or Burleson's Tyler Ribitizki

Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?Coach Bennett didn't say who the particular athletes were.

Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?I would like to say that Bennett holding a ship open for Massey (reading between the lines, I was not there) and just using it next year if he doesn't take it shows a lot of class on Bennett's part.
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?Sounds like Rossley's ol run n shoot. ![]() ![]() May the forth be with us.
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?Did anyone remind the coaches that they forgot to sign a defensive lineman?
Re: Did anyone go to the Bennett Recruiting Talk?yeah they did-he's just a little skinny DE right now though-I've seen this go on for years.
