I didn't go to a bb game for the first time in 15 years. My sainthood is revoked. I'll go to the fb games this year but if there's no improvement I'm done with that too.

I am asking for .500 overall and doubling our conference win total (which would mean 6). These are reasonable goals and as a fan I think those are reasonable expectations for next year.

Yep, lets keep it real. You trying to insult people personally now? I wish we had 1000 fans like you describe. I don't think we even have one now and we probably won't have one again. Keep it up though, I am sure you are gonna make lots of friends.

Chill out Hoop. You've basically called him out for being a poser because he cited some previous down periods in SMU basketball and he hasn't posted here until yesterday. I can't call him out bc I am too lazy to look up if any of that is true and, relatively speaking, I don't know anything first hand about SMU hoops pre-Dement. But the way you have attacked the guy, you've gotta expect he would come back at you.

I agree that I wish there were more hardcore fans. Sad truth is we need to stop sucking so bad for that to happen. Even then I am skeptical.

talk about passive aggressive. Its all here in black and white. Did Doh come shake your hand in the front row of the Fedex Forum yesterday and get you all giddy and pumped up for smu hoops again? Did ya see the street cred oozing out of him?

As i said, glad to have you back MM. No hard feelings. Maybe I'll see ya at a bowl game someday. Much more likely than an NCAA tourney game.

I'm not asking for .500 or better. I could live with 14-16 with 6-8 conference wins. But if they are not a balanced basketball team, a smarter basketball and a better free throw shooting basketball team, then 14-16 won't even happen.

He has to get a 6-6 forward who will drive the ball to the basket and be an enforcer.

I would be ecstatic with those numbers - maybe one win at the tournament.......Where is our new Ike Ofoegbu?????

I wish I would have met him, but I was in nashville visiting my daughter....I sense a lot of anger, HF....when you stake your entire exsistence / being as the self appointed expert on all things SMU hoops,I can see why you are a little chippy / pissy / angry / _______ / _______. Bottom line, DOH will turn this thing, I am confident in that.

Sprinkle this on your Campisi's pie..we fire Doc Hayes after 7 mediocre seasons, we miss out on that glorious run from 1954 - 1958. Not to mention SWC studliness in the 60"s...

We ship Coach Prewitt out the door after 4 straight yawners from 67 - 71, we miss out on the fun some of us had in "72 when we won our first SWC crown in 5 years. Thank you Ruben Triplett!

Bliss starts off 3-13 and 1-15 in his first two SWC season (you would have been calling for his testicles, HF!), we miss out on the great fun / pride we experienced in 80's...I was at that Georgetown game..unreal!

Shumate would have been OUT, by your standards, after the 91-92 season, 4 SWC W's!! Did you rock in 92-93 when Chad Allen hit that buzzer beater to clinch the SWC crown?

The Dement / Tubbs years have brought this program DOWN....the freakin' mop is not big enough that Doh has his hands on right now. This is only his 3rd. season...I know you are anxious, I know you are pissed, I know you are a guru who knows more about hoops than Orsini (cough cough), Doh needs at least 5 seasons...then you can REALLY start to rant and rave. I believe in Orsini / Doh / JJ...things will turn. I WILL buy you all the brews and pie you want when we go to the Dance. Peace.

I like this guy!

Hoop Fan has been sour, with good reason, ever since the whole Tubbs debacle and how he was set up and released.

I too feel bad about that, but in all honesty, that was a horrible hire, Tubbs is not, was not, nor will ever be D1 Head Coaching material.

I wish we could have just let him go without creating trumped up charges, but the net result is the same, he had no business being our head coach.

Doherty is here now, give him time, and he will get this done.

I am not a fire the coach type. Never have been. All i am looking for is a train that appears to be on the tracks. When you look closely or even not so closely, is it? By Dohs own comments, this program did not live up to expectations for improvement this year. So to say you are confident in where it is and where its going, doesn't have much credibility right now.

Welcome to the hell that is ponyfans. onetheedgeofmyseat.

Boy so many things and so little time. First, to Stallion - Dement had to go when he was let go. He had a team of underclassmen that he had lost somehow. They apparently had overachieved a game or two and fooled us into thinking they were better than they were and Lineburg got a lot out of them. Tubbs didn't. Where is this mythical JUCO big man, shooting guard or power forward going to come from? We only have one senior and his scholarship has already been taken. If we have to stand pat with the line-up that we have, then Doherty needs to stay because no new coach will do any better and we have to wait for some slots to open up. Or do we follow the JJ method and dump some players who aren't working out realizing that this could cost us a scholarship down the line with our APR. Either way, the next month or so, should be interesting. If we sign a couple more players, then we know someone is either leaving or facing the axe. My view is that Doh is going to be here next year, but that Orsini will be looking for tangible meaningful improvement. That means probably (if we continue to schedule cupcakes) a winning non-conference record and a .500 conference record. I hope Doh has that kind of year next year. Can this cast of characters go .500 in CUSA next year?

Lastly, anyone who saw the SWC of the 60's and early to mid 70's knows this is not the worst team ever. CUSA is miles ahead of where the SWC was in basketball at that point in time. I remember going to my first SWC game at SMU and was amazed at how awful the competition was compared to even DC high school basketball.
