Re: Donald Massey? If true, I guess either scenario doesn't bode well for getting DJ in red/blue next fall.

Re: Donald Massey?IS THIS A CASE WHERE THE ATHLETE PUT THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE? HE WAS TOO GOOD FOR US, NOW HE CAN'T GET IN ANYWHERE???
Classic.
Re: Donald Massey?Okay Stallion, what schools offer Non-qualifiers in hope that they will qualify before school starts. I assume that we can't do that.

Re: Donald Massey?SMU has done that. Remember Corlin Donaldson? He was still unqualified on signing day, had a 16 on the ACT. Thats how he got in trouble, trying to get a qualifying test score. More recently the football team signed a kid named Kelvin Cox who wound up not qualifying before school started. I believe he's at Arkansas State now, with Darren Billups. Cavan offered Billups when he was a non-qualifier, but I think Bennett withdrew the offer. Billups signed with Tulsa, but couldnt get in there, either.
Re: Donald Massey? No they didn't-Corlin Donaldson did not commit or sign with SMU until the secondary signing period starting in August.

Re: Donald Massey?Baylor's Top5 Class of 99 (98?) signed 25, and only 12-14 got in.
Re: Donald Massey?technically, nobody is qualified until they clear the NCAA Clearinghouse and there are some "fair" projections on completing classes already commenced in core classes that all schools do. So a recruit could "project" as a qualifier on signing date and still not qualify-nobody has a problem with that. What most object to are the players who do not "project" as a qualifier on signing date and will need a miracle to do so by August.

Re: Donald Massey? So why don't we save a ship for Massey. If he gets his test scores then we award it to him in August just like we did Donaldson. If he doesn't get the score stick him in JC and give it to a deserving walkon like Pointer.
Seems like some of his lack of desire for SMU may have stemed from his inability to get admitted to the hilltop. Now that he has seen that other schools will not be able to get him in he may change his mind on SMU.
Re: Donald Massey? In theory, you are correct. But, Donaldson didn't actually qualify, his friend did.
Re: Donald Massey?I agree with those who say "save a ship" for him. I think it's also a good idea to save a ship or two for walk-ons who earn a spot on the two-deep. Sounds like we may have a guy or two who may qualify this year.
I still like the thought of reading how a "big day for the Massey Bros" leads SMU to victory. Would be fun to see both brothers go for over 100 yds and both score TDs in same game
Re: Donald Massey?Rivals has a story that says "Massey makes decision known" .... yet the site still lists several schools for him. Curious, to say the least.

Re: Donald Massey? He committed to TCU. Very, very interesting. I guess that family isn't going to be having a happy Thanksgiving for the next four years. Oh well, we were never in the running for some reason, so I wish him the best. Hope big bro has that "I can't lose to my little brother" mentality.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Re: Donald Massey?Well, his family will get to see him play 5 times maybe 6 per year. They'll get to see his brother play 10 times per year.
