Carpool to Ruston

Postby The XtC » Tue Mar 17, 2009 1:46 pm

Anyone interested in sharing a ride? I'm driving over, you can ride with me, or we take your vehicle and I'll give you 50 bucks for gas. I grew up in north Louisiana, and have made this drive many times, I know the way pretty well. My vehicle is a Chevy Trailblazer, plenty of room.

My preference would be to leave early in the afternoon on Thursday, and return that night. I might stop briefly in Shreveport and say hello to my parents.

How long is the drive to Ruston, and how long does it take to get back to Shreveport?

Was thinking of going and trying to get some gambling in either before or after or both.

No, it means I'm going to say hi to my folks. I mentioned before, I used to live there. It would be kind of rude to drive through and not say hello.

It's about a 3.5- 4 hour trip from Ruston to Dallas, about 1 hour from Ruston to Shreveport. Stop and spend the night in Shreveport might be a good idea, the game will probably be over around 9.

The casinos used to run shuttle busses daily from Dallas. Dont know if the still do, but it might be worth looking into if you're more interested in the casino than the game.

I wish I could go, X. I would totally split the car ride with you. Can't get off work - even the 1/2 day. If that changes, I'll let you know.

"Carpool to Ruston".....sounds like an "early" Jimmy Buffett song....or a really bad B movie...

Is Herbie K's still open? Believe that was the home of the Shrimp Buster (?) Is/was a fantastic place to eat.

Glad I made the drive — I was very impressed with the Mustangs this year. I don't know if we beat them playing with a full team, but shorthanded, we were a bit overmatched. And in fairness, LaTech was better than I thought, too.
