Probably the best recruiting source on E. Texas football. Go to the forums/HS for latest info on commits (he doesn't update his recruiting news page until after signing day. Have no info on these kids other than they commited.
Re: 2 East Texas CommitsAll I could figure out about Lacori Johnson was that he was on the 3A state Finals No. 1 relay team and ran the 4X100, 4X200 and 4X400. I believe he was the anchor of those teams. So, I assume he's fast. He also scored a 2-point conversion in Atlanta's 3A state championship win.
Here's an article I found on Hawkins.

Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: 2 East Texas Commitswhile I don't know anything about this kid from Pine Tree, it is interesting to note that the former head coach of Pine Tree was Dickie Meeks, father of current SMU QB Rickey Joe Meeks. This kid would have been in Junior High when Meeks left Pine Tree to become the head coach at Mt. Vernon. This is clearly a product of those deep east Texas connections and relationships.
Re: 2 East Texas CommitsI wonder if these guys are going to go on scholarship, or walk on? I haven't heard them mentioned on any recruiting board, anywhere...
Re: 2 East Texas CommitsHere's one on Tony Hawkins.

FOOTBALL: PT’s Hawkins commits to SMU By JACK STALLARD Pine Tree three-sport athlete Tony Hawkins, a triple-threat for the Pirates on the football field, has given a verbal commitment to continue his football career and education at Southern Methodist University. According to Pine Tree head football coach and athletic director Terry Waldep, Hawkins visited SMU over the weekend. Verbal commitments are non-binding. National signing day is Wednesday. “Tony visited SMU, things went well and he called me and told me he was going to commit,†Waldrep said. “I think it’s a good fit for him. He can play anywhere, but they plan to use him at receiver ... a lot like we did. Maybe move him out to the slot to get the ball in his hands and let him do his thing.†Hawkins played several positions for the Pirates during a standout three-year varsity career. As a sophomore he racked up 113 tackles from the outside linebacker position and earned defensive newcomer of the year honors on the Longview News-Journal’s All-East Texas Football Team. He played free safety on defense and tailback and receiver offensively as a junior, and as a senior he led the Pirates in rushing and receiving and was among the team leaders in tackles defensively while playing both linebacker and defensive back. He earned first team all-district honors in District 13-4A at tailback. Hawkins also plays basketball and participates in track at Pine Tree. He was the News-Journal’s defensive MVP on the All-East Texas team a year ago. May the forth be with us.
Re: 2 East Texas CommitsNot to state the obvious, but sounds like this guy is a replacement for losing Bunton. Sounds like a good athelete, but probably a "project", since he is coming from a small school and hasn't played a fixed position.
Curious to see if anyone knows about the other guy?
Re: 2 East Texas CommitsHow strange for Mustangs35SMU, with the Pine Tree kid headed to SMU and the LHS kid headed to TCU.
Go Frogs
Re: 2 East Texas CommitsJohnson is a great pick up for us! He was an outside linebacker for state champion Atlanta. He was the fastest guy on an unbelievably fast team. Sorry we missed Dallas Washington when we had the chance, but this guy will be able to play.
Re: 2 East Texas CommitsNobody has any more info on these guys. Two guys committ today and this is all we have. This board is sssssslllloooooowwwww this week.

Re: 2 East Texas CommitsWhat position might they play, size, stats, was anybody else after them?, are they any good?, etc.
