another scorer would be nice, but we also need to bring in someone willing to bang on the boards. We could use 2 more guys in this class.

Causes me concern when this kid is only being looked at by 2 schools including Illinois State which not one of your name programs. Is Doh getting desperate when our glaring weakness is in the front line??

Illinois State has been to the NIT the past 2 seasons. 07-08 they won 25 games. This season the won 24 games including starting the season 14-0. And the Missouri Valley Conference is generally a pretty good conference.
And remember last year Derek Williams was Doherty's smallish, scoring, combo-guard recruit. I believe he only held offers from SMU, UTEP, and another smaller school. I would be thrilled to add another Derek Williams to our roster!
We still have 2 scholarships left so I would think one will go to a scoring guard/wing and the other would go to a post player. This makes complete sense to me if this guy is an immediate impact type scoring guard, which it seems like he may be.

Good post. Has it been firmly established that Doh has 2 schollies left?? I was under the impression that he only had 1 scholarship available and that was being questioned several weeks back.

He has 2. Cort Hoge either never was on scholarship or had his scholarship last year on loan. He came to SMU as a walk-on and that has been documented in another thread. Alex Malone has also asked for and received his release. Bamba graduates but we signed Francis to fill his spot. So we have 2 schollies left.

Adam Brown 6'3 shooting guard avg 18.6 pts per game.
84% Free Throw, 43% 3 pt
Gilbert Clavell 6'6 forward avg 16 pts & 6.5 boards.
82% FT & 61% from the field.
Doh should be looking @ these two kids right up Highway 75 in Plano @ Collin County JC. I've mentioned them several times.
Very good players @ one of the top JC programs in the country.

If I have to let them know about these 2 guys that play 30 minutes from campus than we really do have the wrong coach/staff in place.
Having said that, I think Lutz has a pretty good idea of the local talent.
But in addition to Lutz I would really like to see us add another top assistant/recruiter with local/state ties. If we are going to let Doh hang around than we might as well upgrade the staff & try to find someone that can close the deal on some of these kids.
