Impact freshmen?

Post by Guest »

Which freshmen will be able to play this season?

~ I hear ShanDerrick Charles has the speed and quickness to be a very elusive back - would make a nice change of page from Briggs and Kincade.

~ Everyone on this board seems to be talking up Don Stansbury.

~ Brad Kieschnick might benefit from having a professional athlete for a big brother, and may have a step up in terms of what it takes to get ready, how much you have to sacrifice, etc. Plus he's supposed to be really strong for an incoming freshman.

~ T.J. James will be a sleeper at DB who will contribute this season.

~ Marcus Walker NEEDS to be ready - but haven't questions been raised about his offseason work ethic and conditioning?

~ And obviously, one or both of the kickers will be in the mix

I have to say, again, that Jay Taylor is a gem of a receiver. If they don't redshirt him, he will be an impact player. He's got height, great hands, excellent ball awareness, and good football speed. He probably needs to add a few pounds, but that will come in time. This guy is just going to get better and better.

If we're throwing in redshirt freshmen, D.D. Lee is going to play Middle Linebacker at SMU. The Mustangs don't let just anybody play middle linebacker, and that's probably all that needs to be said about D.D.Lee

A friend of mine has been all over campus for the last few days, talking to freshmen and watching them run, lift, etc. Says T.J. James is this year's Matt Rushbrook (freshman who will play a significant role in his first year). Anyone else seen them?

Don't overlook this Tate Wallis kid as a throw-away signing. He's a legit 6-2, 210, and he's absolutely fast as hell. Like Trey Griffin/Kevin Garrett fast. Cavan says he's going to work as a WR, meaning maybe we got FOUR quality wideouts this year. Nice work, coaches.
