CJ VilarinoThink he gets cut loose by Calipari? I would think so, especially if John Wall & Cousins head to Kentucky w/Jon Hood. Surely they'll add a Memphis transfer(s) as well. Same can be said of the PG from God's Academy, KC Ross-Miller. I know GA is a diploma mill, so Miller is out, but is Vilarino worth another look....
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Kentucky only had 1 scholarship available after this season yet Gillespie already had 3 commits (or maybe even signees) so they were already going to have to free up a couple scholarships. Coach Cal may have to do some serious housecleaning to get his guys in.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [quote="papawasamustang"]Curious to see what impact this has on the UK recruiting class, especially G J Vilarino from McKinney. We need another PG.[/quote _______________ "We can't win at home. We can't win on the road. I just can't figure out where else to play" I was thinking about G J last week when all the news started to break . I was actually @ a game that McKinney was playing in and Doh was in the stands watching G J. I sure hope Doh has made some calls & done his homework on this. This local pg would an outstanding addition to the program. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Iowa recently released 4 players from their basketball team "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
McKinney senior point guard G.J. Vilarino will be released from his letter of intent to play at Kentucky, Vilarino's father said Thursday.
Gerardo Vilarino talked to coach John Calipari on Wednesday, the day when the former Memphis coach was introduced as Kentucky's new coach. He then asked Calipari to release Vilarino from the letter of intent he signed in November, and Calipari agreed to do it. "I'll be honest with you, it's not a good fit for us," Gerardo Vilarino said. "We want G.J. to play where he has a relationship with the people he's going to be with. We have no relationship with Cal." K.C. Ross-Miller, a junior point guard at Dallas-based God's Academy, has also backed off his commitment to Kentucky, according to his father, Tim Miller. Miller had only orally committed to Kentucky, so he doesn't need to ask for a release.
Sorry, just posted this link on the basketball board before looking at the recruiting board...

How is coach Cal not a good fit for anyone, especially at point guard? They run a wide open offense that uses fast breaks and pressure defense. Derrick Rose anyone... Sounds like Vilarino was told to go elsewhere. Hope he would come here because we would appreciate him and his talents. I'm sure we still have a relationship too.
Vilarino comes out w/his new list in the next day or so. We need talent

With the recent mystery commitment of Clinkscales, we have 4 guards. McCoy, Williams, Walker & Clink. GJ probably will not want to come here now that the Clink situation has leaked. Not enough p t to go around imo. We don't even know if GJ is interested in us although I'm sure we are trying to get into the mix. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters.
