Purdue, South Florida & now NC State. I don't like our chances.
I wonder who is the backup plan? Waverly Austin or Lenny Daniel? Its really hard to find any info on other potential recruits.

I know-you and I are trying to smoke them out. Right? The recruiting services aren't really helping too much. I could live with Marcius and this Clinkscales kid-although really I find it hard to even find much about these guys. But theoretically a double double averaging Center with 3 offers from BCS Conference schools and a JUCO from a quality conference who scored 19 ppg as a true freshman doesn't sound that bad generally.

Disappointing that we can't get better bb recruiting info.
Everything I see on Marcius reminds me of Ritter but with better basketball skills.

Well, for about 2 hours on April 9 we had some good information on Clinkscales.

And as we all know, information is a basic American right. Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and data.

Marcius would be crazy to entertain NC State. That job is set for another coaching carousel in the next year or so. Sid Lowe is plain awful, a a league wide laughingstock. He makes Paul Hewitt look like a good bench coach.

As for our hoops recruiting, the lack of info is sad. I applaud Armen for getting us the Marcius article, but let's be honest. He's been a target for a long while, and Armen was only 'allowed' to publish in the last few days. Meanwhile, they ok him to do a Vee Sanford article several months back, and the kid had barely heard of the school. Hell, there are tons of AAU events locally, Real Deal in the Rock is this weekend, and nothing. One of the fastest rising local AAU programs is co-headed by ex-SMU players. Heck, a kid like Thomas Gipson says we're his only offer in a national article, but nothing about it locally. We did get a Nick Hinton piece which was nice, I guess.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a program, in a pseudo-viable conference, that has so little info about hoops recruiting. The staff really has no idea how to build offseason momentum amongst its fan base. I know many of us aren't pleased w/what we see on the court, but so much of that could be alleviated, if we were excited about our prospects, and the future. Doh is running this program like he's gun-shy. Carolina did a job on the guy

Here is some basketball recruiting info... We recruit players that are below average to average, and you can't forget that in order to make the team, you have to shoot below 80% from the free throw line. Then you pair all of that average talent with a below average coach that doesn't even have one go to play that works, and you have SMU basketball. That is about all the inside recruiting info you need... Concentrate on football, there is at least a glimmer of hope there.

NC State really messed up on Herb Sendek.

If the SMU staff is playing Clinkscales for Marcius, that's pretty sorry, especially if they got Clinkscales to commit. This smells like the same thing with the Clark kid out of Detroit. They got him to commit then quickly funneled him out of there.

Although this signing period is a little different from football, we'll see how eager this staff is to show its results. To show none when the period ends would be horrible.

well we've got two scholarships to give-for your theory to make sense there has to be a third target. Perhaps former Kentucky commit G.J. Vilarino who has a bunch of schools coming after him-supposed to have a Top 4 soon -I think Friday-and then make his visits. There's also the Javarez Willis kid from Pinkston still sitting out there who Texas Hoops in its Final Texas 150 has highly rated at No. 12 in Texas-he apparently has the range and shot but is more PG than SG at 5-11

I don't see us signing 2 guards. If Clinkscales is on board than G J or "Bean" Willis probably don't fit into the mix imo. Yes, we need better players @ all positions but you are talking Williams, McCoy, Walker, Clinkscales & Harp @ the 1 & 2's. Another Dubois/McCoy situation.

At this point, I'd gladly take ANY of Clinkscales, Vilarino, or Willis. JUCO SF as well. Play small, play fast

Let's say we do add Clinkscales- I would like to think he could have a Williams-like JUCO impact this next season. That would give us 6 sure fire rotation guys:

McCoy
Williams
Clinkscales
Nayakundi
Faye
Dia

Haynes showed a lot of promise towards the end of next season and I suspect will be a rotation guy as well. Add in maybe Frank Otis for a gritty inside player, plus the JUCO sf you are wishing for and your smaller, quick lineup wish has come true.
