What happened the first time around, weren't we interested?

Two days ago you said he was hoping for interest from SMU.

That's correct and it was true. But I found out some information between then and now that made the family thing more of a factor. Put it this way Matt can be interested but that level can be tempered.

Regardless, it's kind of irrelevant because that was during the Bennett era.

Maybe. But then again, I think we've all heard of the country club atmosphere that Bennett fostered in that locker room. Who knows maybe they met Bennett and came away with the same feeling at SMU Football Blog did. That would be considered good parenting, IMO.

Hey, I was interested in going to the University of Minnesota and my dad - an alum of the U -- talked me out of it.

Actually, I take that back. You can be a good alum and not be particularly enamoured with the direction the football team has been going over the past 20 years. It may well be good parenting general.

I would suspect that given their ties to the school, they will do their due diligence on SMU, get a feel for the staff to see if they are or if Jones and his staff are interested.

For all we know, he could end up at SMU or Northwestern State.

Just think General if you hadn't listen to your dad you could have been a Gopher. Then you could have been on the Gopher fans web site telling them how great CUSA is.

I don't know where you got your information, but, Matt and his family would have LOVED to be at SMU, when he was coming out of high school.

That's fine. You go with what you got. And I'll go with what I got. I'm sure both of us are right to some extent.

Your dad was an alum of the University of Miami?

I don't recognize Miami as the U. Up in MSP, everybody calls Minnesota the U. Naturally, that's how I identify it.

Interestingly in Utah, the University of Utah is known as "The U"

At least that one makes some sense.

hmmm. Any time I've been up there, any time a discussion turns to college athletics, the denizens usually bring up Minnesota with a puzzled look and say "Gophers?"
