I cannot wait for the spin coming from the basketball offices on this one. If I were them, I would be very down low on this.
With this guy and JO -- He is still coming isn't he? With this guy, it makes me wonder -- you talk about a front line that will set the tone.
Nothing against the kid. I hope he works hard and does what he can but this is something that just makes throw up your hands and say, "What the he!! is going on at Crum?''
Hey, Matt! Rhonda is kicking you every way and sideways over the last 3 years. How humbling has that been?
Haven't we learned that this staff reads these boards?

Two points:
1) Good or Bad News; Bad News; Note this kid only played 10 minutes a game last year at a Junior College Good News: that projects to 15 ppg and 14 rpg if he played 30 minutes and he did have a 58% FG Percentage
(Pause for Stallion Rose Colored Cheerleading Moment:"Go Ponies" "Go Red" "Go Blue" Yippe!)
[Regain composure]
2) Assuming we are still going for Marcius, whose leaving or not qualifying?

I am sure players already know Doherty is a lame duck coach that will be fired soon. It hurts recruiting. When you know a coach is not working out you get rid of the coach and move on....at least that is what winning programs do. I am all for giving a coach time to build a program but when a coach shows no progress you move on. I would have accepted a 15 win season this year but to regress from a 10 win season to 9 wins when your non-conference schedule was made to get easy victories is totally unacceptable. Doherty sucks and so does this basektball program at the moment.
wow. so much for any momentum from signing a stud like Paul McCoy. As i have said before, and this is honest and objective, other than the signing of one Paul McCoy I see no real progress on the court or off through 3 years. what a shame. No progress in building relationships, no recruiting progress, no good wins, no good home games, no improved style of play. And way to shun Dallas County for nothing. Go to California for special, above average players, not bodies.
Can always make a wide receiver out of himThe XtC wrote:Definitely has good size, he was on campus last weekend, and there is no denying he's a big kid. He looks ALOT like Chief Kickingstallionsims, if you remember him from the games with Alabama State.Blvd_Stang wrote:Kid's name is Myles Luttman. He averages 5 and 5 last year. Here's a couple links that might be helpful:

He looks like he has good size, but is unproven it seems stats wise. I wouldn't mind picking up the sophomore F Thomas Malcolm who averaged 21 and 13...
He played for a pretty good jc team, they had a strong season and sent several kids on to lower level 4-year schools. Their best player signed with San Diego State (Thomas Malcolm, mentioned above). What worries me a bit is that Luttman was 3rd on the team in rebounding, and the guy in front of him was only 6'0" tall. He shouldnt be outrebounded by the point guard on his own team (Marquintice Davis, signed with Cal State- Dominguez Hills, a D2 school).
Honestly dont know anything else about him, but he did have some size.

I think this is fairHoop Fan wrote:wow. so much for any momentum from signing a stud like Paul McCoy. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

I am NOT one of the folks on here that barks about recruiting DISD or expects the staff to magically be able to pluck blue chippers out of our back yard, but I can agree with this comment. Based on this kids statistical production alone, there are dozens of local guys that I would guess could match that and would actually consider coming to SMU.Hoop Fan wrote:Go to California for special, above average players, not bodies.

Color me skeptical. The kid's stats are quite underwhelming. Haven't seen any video of the kid, maybe he's a grinder? We seriously need some toughness inside. Say what you want about Paulius Ritter, but he was our only tough player two seasons ago. Our toughest guy last year was Otis...no offense to him, but when the only guy on your team who is willing to mix it up a bit is 6'6", you need to find more toughness.

How does Orsini sign off on something like this?
On paper, its a joke. However, as always, I will hold my opinion until I see this kid & Clinkscales play. The good news is I heard that both of them run a very good mile time.
