Marcius set Press Conference for Sunday

Postby PonyPatrol » Thu Apr 23, 2009 1:18 pm

Will announce his decision b/w Purdue and SMU after the Nike Spring Shootout in Indiana. According to his high school coach his mind is made up (contrary to Armen's latest report). The coach also goes on to say that Purdue has a great chance, and that they've always had a great chance to land him. Granted, this was a Boilermaker report, but it doesn't sound too promising to me...

Didn't realize Doh had flown to Croatia to visit his parents. This would be a huge, multi-continent whiff if we don't get him.

Clue #1: he is not withholding his announcement to wait until after an Indiana hoops event to announce press conference style that he is coming to small private school in Texas. sounds like SMU has stayed on the list this long out of courtesy, probably because as you say Doh went all out with the parents to get him.

He's going to high school in Indiana. Where else would he hold it? I agree that he probably won't come here but let's be a little realistic here.

Thats exactly what I am saying. If you are shunning a state school where you live, you probably wouldn't build it up and make an announcement that you are going to Texas. I think i am being very realistic when I suggest its doubtful a kid and his coach are going to buildup an "announcement" at an Indiana AAU event and then announce for SMU. That only happens in Dallas when kids announce for Missouri or Kansas on live tv

TV or not, Pennsylvania QB Tarelle Pryor announced he was going to Ohio State. I don't agree with you on the backdrop to of the AAU tournament as to why he would announce for Purdue over SMU.

We're splitting hairs here but when we got the California big man, that may have also been a sign that we weren't getting him.

But I'm sure when he has his press conference, we'll get the breathtaking responses,

"I really liked the coaches."
"It was a family atmosphyere.''
"I chose them for their academics.''
"I really felt comfortable.''

Please pass the No Doz during the press conference.

Even if Marcius doesn't come here we will still be in good shape @ the post position. We have another 5 ppg & 5 reb recruit waiting in the wings  . Maybe we can steal him away from Sam Houston State or Ark Little Rock.

Our inside game should be something else next year with
Papa D, TK, Hoge, JO & our new California Juco dude & either Marcius or maybe this kid. Somethings up. Too many post players. 1 or 2 of them are out of here?

He's probably announcing at the AAU event b/c that's where the local & grassroots press will be.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

UALR is no slouch either. They were kept out of the NCAA by Western Kentucky.

(Technically So. Alabama kept them out, but UALR was the 2nd seed in the Sunbelt behind Western Kentucky.)

Agreed. Nice team. Lost to Memphis by 8 & beat North Texas State 2x's
BTW, Western Kentucky getting a good local player from Argyle in Caden Dickerson.
