My heart is heavy and saddened by the passing of Coach Gansz. His death is of course a tremendous loss to his family, and, in his case, a tremendous loss to the players, coaches, alums, fans, all of SMU and indeed all of football. I guess one of the greatest tributes to him is the impact he had on our community in such a short time. Coach you are missed and will never be replaced in the hearts of all of us.

I ver got to see him. I hope that audio recordings if not videos exist of this man at SMU practices and that a highlights DVD will be issued.

I never got to know the man, but I heard nothing but good things about his abillities as a coach, a leader and a person. Our prayers are with you Coach!!

Shocked an saddened. This guys was truly one of a kind. We were lucky to have him, even for as brief of a time as we did.

the two practices I attended were interrupted by a bullhorn, and a persistent voice of encouragement and passion. Never met the man, but the impact he had on others was obviously profound and immediate.

...when he shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night,
And pay no worship to the garish sun.

rest well, coach.

I hope when my life is over than I had 1/20 of the positive impact that Frank had on people. I never personally met him, but I can tell what a special person he was.

He is coaching another Special Team now, and as a person of Faith I know we will see him again.

God Bless the Gansz family.

As a new dad, I've really come to appreciate people who step up and show strong leadership tempered with kindness. Gansz seemed to be that kind of man. I loved the zest for life he brought to practices. The SMU community was fortunate to have been around him even though it was for a short time.

My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Up until now, I have not been able to think clearly to post. Coach G. and I were not close friends but knowing him and watching his love and dedication to teaching boys to become men was inspiring.

Coach G. is tough yet loving. Coach G. is in GOD's loving hands.

Hey Dad, Please intoduce youself to a great Mustang.

May light perpetual shine upon you always.

Live each day as our Lord has shone.
Peace be with you always.

what a heart wrenching story.

Coach is no doubt in a good place.

Sad that he will not physically be around to see our programs resurgence.

However, he may be watching from somewhere and have a big smile on his face when SMU starts to win again.
