You are aware that UT's fight song is really Taps played fast.

Actually, it's Taps and the Eyes of Texas mixed together and played fast.

EDIT: Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Figh ... _and_usage

"The repeated strain contains portions of "The Eyes of Texas," the school's alma mater. This modification was made in the summer of 1967 at the suggestion of Charles "Buster" Griffith, a member of the trumpet section, and was premiered - unannounced - at the first football game that fall, after which it became tradition. Scroll to the bottom of this page for links to the Mustang Band's jazzed-up versions of the fight songs of old SWC schools from the Southwest Conference Jazz album.

With regard to the SMU alma mater song, I have spent 45 years trying to find, " the hill over there". Some day I will bring in a surveyor and try to find that hill. Anyone know if the hill has a name???

Actually there are several surveying benchmarks on the campus, or used to be. I don't remember if one of them was near Dallas Hall or not.

Boomer Sooner is copied from Yale's "Boola Boola" and North Carolina's "I'm a Tar Heel Born"

OMG. Craig you are so gay!
That's the SMU stuff. O yea ...that's what were supposed to be saying.

I almost did not become a fan of SMU when I saw the pony ears go up, and the I’ll be coming around the mountain when she comes song. Now I kind of like the song, but I'm going to have to wait a few more years before I start flashing pony ears.

Dixie is great - TODAY. You don't get many chances to hear it these days. I recall when Midland Robert E. Lee was in the midst of winning three 5A championships in a row and playing at Texas Stadium, seemingly, every weekend - that Rebel Band knew Dixie and every version thereof - those 300 band members could play - and the people stood, at least the first few times - they played it a lot. Still do.
1. SMU
2. Wisconsin
3. ND

Glad someone threw Wisconsin in there. I think it's great. But then I went to Richardson...

On Wisconsin. Hate the Red Army but they do have a great fight song.
